When Dick got out of class on Friday he found he had four missed calls from his brother and a few missed calls from his friends in Neptune.
“No way there could have been another bus crash.” Dick said to himself as he punched in Beaver’s number. The phone barely rang once before his brother picked up.
“Dick? Christ, where have you been?” Beaver demanded. “I’ve been trying to call you all afternoon!”
“I was in class dude.” Dick said. “What’s up? Why have like thirty people called me?”
“It’s Dad.” Beaver said. “He’s gone.”
“Ooookay. Gone where?” Dick asked. So his dad left. B.F.D.
“He fled the country, dude. He’s in big trouble.” said Beaver. He didn’t bother explaining the whole situation to Dick since he knew he wouldn’t understand.
“Oh god, are we poor?” asked Dick. He couldn’t be poor. Being rich was just too damn awesome.
“No. Well, I don’t think so.” Beaver didn’t really sound that sure of himself. “You need to come home. Like, now. The police are asking questions and they want to talk to you.”
“I don’t know anything.”
“Believe me, Dick. If anyone knows that, it’s me.” Beaver said. “You still need to come home. We’ve got a meeting with our lawyer tomorrow. He’s going to tell us what’s going to happen to Dad’s money.”
Dick nodded. “Okay. I’ll take the next portal back home.”
“Good. I’ll see you soon.”
Dick closed his phone and began to pack a duffle bag full of clothes. He left a
message for Annette and was about to leave the room before he thought about something else. He scribbled a note quickly for his roommate.
Jim -
Going back home for a few days. Apparently my dad fled the country. Cool, huh? Try to refrain from putting my stuff in Jell-O but if you can’t resist the urge just make sure it’s not grape Jell-O. Grape is nasty. Oh, and entertain Sparkles for me will ya? He likes Halo and Mario Kart.
-Dick
He stuck the note on the front door before he left.
[Establishy. Posted early cause I've got a thing today and probably won't be back until evening. I hate things]
