Room 222, Monday Evening

Aug 27, 2007 19:49

Dick had thoroughly enjoyed his first day of break. He slept until two and then played video games with Sparkles all day after he woke up.

It didn't really take much to entertain him.

Towards the evening he decided that he should actually put on some pants and go out and be social. He was just about to leave his room when Sparkles came up to him, holding Dick's cell phone. It had been on vibrate and was now buzzing in the Transformer's hand.

"Thanks, dude." said Dick, talking the phone from Sparkles and flipping it open.

Dick Casablancas
"Heeeeelllllllo?"

Meg Manning
"Hey, Dick. It's Meg." came the voice from the other line. "I didn't call too late did, I? I completely forgot you were on Eastern time until after I dialed the number."

Dick Casablancas
Oh god, someone in Neptune was dead. That was the only conceivable reason why Meg would be calling him. Please be Veronica, please be Veronica...

Meg Manning
Meg frowned. "Dick?"

Dick Casablancas
"Yeah, I'm here." said Dick. "What's up?"

Meg Manning
Meg took a deep breath. "I know, this is a weird call since I haven't talked to you since Casey's party in February. But, um, I've got some news. Good news, I think. I hope."

Dick Casablancas
"And what sort of news is this?" he asked. "Are you dating Beaver now or something?"

Meg Manning
"What? No! Not that Cassidy isn't a good guy or anything. He's just..." Meg didn't quite know how to put it.

Dick Casablancas
"A spaz, I know. I didn't really think you were. Just throwing out a guess" he said. As if anyone would want Beaver. "So what is it?"

Meg Manning
"Well, last year was sort of-" Terrible. Horrible. Catastrophic. "-bad and my parents and I both think it's time I get a new change in scenery. So I'm going to a new school."

Meg grinned. "Your school."

Dick Casablancas
"Really? That's awesome!" said Dick. "What made you decide to come here?"

Meg Manning
"Truth be told, I wanted a school far, far from Neptune." she admitted, blushing. Even now, over the phone, she was embarassed that she let the whole Duncan thing affect her so much. "And I knew you went here and Cassidy told me how much you like it...the goofy brochure also sold me on the idea too. Gremlins. Nice mascot."

Dick Casablancas
"Yeah, the gremlins. I haven't seen one myself but one bit one of my cabinmates" he said in all seriousness. "It made him think he was a gay magician."

Meg Manning
Meg laughed. Dick could be so goofy sometimes. "So you're okay with this then? You'll show me around and protect me from the school bullies?"

Dick Casablancas
"Yeah! I'm totally cool with it." said Dick. He wasn't really one to hang out with Meg Manning but she had always been nice to him, even when he was a jackass. "It'll be the best decision you ever made, for serious."

Meg Manning
"I hope so." she said softly. "The last few months have kinda sucked."

Dick Casablancas
"I heard. Beaver fills me in on everything. But you'll like it here." he said. After she got used to the weirdness, of course. Speaking of weirdness Dick wondered if he should tell her about Jo. "Hey Meg-"

Meg Manning
"Yeah?"

Dick Casablancas
"Er..." He couldn't do it. It was just too weird to say outloud. "See you on Saturday!"

Meg Manning
Meg smiled. "I'll see you on Saturday, Dick."

[Establishy. I love talking to myself]
