Musing on Friends

Oct 29, 2006 11:08

I was thinking about LJ interests for awhile, and how we usually base whether or not we friend someone on how much we have in common with them. However, that seems really odd to me; now we're picking our friends like we would rationalise a dinner. (Likes ___: check. Dislikes ___: hmm, not as good.)
Now, I do understand that common interests are a great way to start off a friendship, and I love every person on my friends list. However, I understand that a little thing called "personality" has a great deal to do with how well we get on. Someone's little quirks may complement my little quirks, and lo, another solid friendship.
Ignore my random musings if you choose. I just thought I'd throw that out there. But I do want to point out that this in no way applies to anyone on my flist, because you're all amazing, seriously. xD
