I'm exactly reproducing the comment behavior in those two request, aside from the Friends page bit, because I'm not looking for a page that has one of your two public entries and testing the other people's doesn't work without changing my style to Boxer. In short, commenting works fine when replying to top-level comments, but not very well when posting those top-level comments.

When I click the reply icon link to ?mode=reply on the entry page, it doesn't do anything. No page load, no error, just nothing.

When I manually add &mode=reply (due to your s2id) to your entry page URL, I get a normal looking reply page where I posted a comment.

When I click the reply icon link on my test top-level comment (after switching back to your Boxer style), a normal looking Quick Reply box shows up and commenting works fine.

When I click the reply icon on serpentine's Recent Entries, it takes me to the ?mode=reply page (not Quick Reply) and works fine. I tested there instead of yours because yours switches back to your normal style.

I also reproduced the same link behavior and presence of Quick Reply on one of serpentine's entry pages without posting any comments.

skreidle doesn't have The Boxer as a public style on her main account, so I can't test that.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/312.8 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/312.5

It's also known as Safari 1.3.2, the most current version for MacOS 10.3.9.

MacOS 10.4.x, which has been out for months now, has the newer Safari version from those two requests.
