Look, go eat pie with Colonel O'Neill. I am very busy right now.

So I extended my Labor Day weekend by taking yesterday off as well, and I drove down to raid my dad's garden visit with my parents. It was really nice and relaxing - my parents are just wonderful people, and we get along great. (I know, I know, I'm sooooo lucky in that regard ( Read more... )

Hah to the shirts! I would get it, only I think the sizing would not be my friend. I'll check it out later, but I suspect babydolls just hate me.

And I loved your pony.

Yeah, I'm not sure the babydoll style is right for most women, self included! Pretty funny shirt tho!

Thanks - I was cracking myself up while making her. Can't go over the top when it's a Goa'uld pony! Did you get pics of the d*con pony workshop?

I didn't end up going, no. I can't quite remember why, but we definitely did something else during that time...

:-(

I'm sure there are pics out there, though!

So I made another pie for my friends, which we will devour tonight along with their twin 4-yo boys.

Nooo! Don't eat the children!

;D

Wow, that pie looks FANTASTIC. *is jealous* Is it basically smooshed-up strawberries?

HA! I guess that came out wrong. We - my friends and their boys - will devour the pie. *iz english major*

It's a combo of whole berries and smushed up ones. You bake the pie shell, and then fill the bottom with whole berries (cut the tops off the berries and then place them cut side down). Then you smash up about a cup or so of berries, and add some sugar, corn starch (to thicken), and a little water, and heat this mixture until boiling and thick. Then pour it over the whole berries, and let it set/chill in the fridge!

OMG!! That is my mom's super sekrit family recipe for strawberry pie!

Are we sekretly related?

I've only had one this season but I love it so. No joke - my parent's once bartered three pies for a riding lawn mower.

OMG - it's my grandma's sooper sekrit recipe! Maybe we ARE related! :D

It's just... summer on your tongue. That's the best way I can describe it. But it really works best with the homegrown strawberries. YUM!

Ha! I think that's a fair trade!

Oh Urgo. *snickers*

I saw your pony and loved it! A little scared of it too, but that's not really the point. Heh.

The pie look fab! Gold star for you. Especially for making some for sharing :) I hope it gets a better reaction than my zucchini bread did. "Honey, this is... like... store-bought quality!" *rolls eyes* Men!

Yum, indeed. I mean, strawberry pie, yay, and can I just say that your pie crust looks fantastic? I personally was born without a pie-crust-crimping gene.

Sounds like a fun weekend! And a great garden, too. =)

Ooh, thanks! The pie crust recipe is from my mom - I have got to remember to share it with you all, because it really is a great recipe.

pie-crust-crimping gene *sporfle*
I will trade this gene for someone's lightening-fast metabolism gene! :D

Tee hee! Sorry, I don't have one of those genes to share, either.

Good pie crust recipes are always welcome.
