Yesterday I rode over 35 miles...a hair under 16 miles solo, then I met up with a friend and we did another 20ish. What an awesome day for riding! Down to 29th on the path, then back up to La Salle and Clark (met up with a friend in front of the Chicago History Museum), and then a route that took us down past Pilsen, back up again (through Printer's Row, where we stopped for a turkey burger and a beer at Hackney's), and finally home. I totally bonked right at the end, though I made it to the front door intact.
Today I had a couple of altercations on my ride...a few idiots in cars who don't understand how to deal with cyclists...including one who told me to get a car if I don't like how they're driving (what, so I can run THEM off the road and honk at them like a moron?)...and some jerk on rollerblades on the bike path who felt that I was a bad person for asking him to stop swinging his arms like a spaz while I passed.
All in all, 22 miles today, well over 100 miles for the month of March (which is a lot for me for the month of March)...looks like it's going to be a great riding year, especially if I can find a way to get myself a road bike.
In other news, I got the scholarship...YAY! I'm so tempted to use the extra money for a bike, but I know that I need to use it towards books and rent, etc. Suckage. School starts back up on Thursday...I'm excited.
