We're all working for the Pharaoh

My fingers are all swollen from the weather, I sniffle a lot and my thighs are constantly cold. Otherwise I manage to bundle pretty sufficiently. The gloves are an issue because then I can't do things like use my phone, book, metrocard, etc, so I end up taking them off a lot. My nose is a lost cause because I hate the way it feels when I wrap my ( Read more... )

BE THE SOUND CHAIR ZOMG

And then I won't make you be my ball co-chair, so net you'd have to do a lot less work!

I'm actually thinking of dropping my CDNY volunteering for the spring season, because I've got so much other stuff to do this spring and summer. It's hard to strike a balance.

The way Efraim put it to me is that we'd all like to have a different sound chair, but do any of us want it enough to be the one to tell C that he isn't?? Especially considering he's liable to just leave the sandbox altogether and we don't really have enough people to replace him...at all. So maybe next year or something.

Hah! Ball co-chair. I wouldn't have the faintest clue what to do.

...Actually. That sounds remarkably like organising a party. Which I'm very good at. Hmm.

It is, in fact, exactly like organizing a party. Which you're very good at.

Here, I'll make you a deal: if you become sound chair, I'll apprentice for sound to fill the gap left by C stalking off in a huff.

Now you're just being all temptyface. Can I hold on to this offer? My thought right now is that I get "certified" this month and then have the spring season to learn the ropes and subvert the system from the inside (or prove that I'm reliable) and then perhaps I'll take over in the fall? (That way, too, perhaps we can do a "C, everyone has to have a chance! You had yours! Now we have to cycle through!:) I also want a little while as a lead to see if I can scare up any recruits who actually *want* to do sound, if they didn't have to apprentice under C. :)

Oh, absolutely. As soon as C is gone I'll probably apprentice anyway--sound was actually the first thing I tried to volunteer for, even before refreshments.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm soon going to be taking over the first Tuesday of every month and don't yet have a second person to help me out. If you were at any point interested. I'm planning on conscripting Gina whenever I can, which a) means it could be the three of us and b) I don't know how often that is. You wouldn't have to do it formally and have to interact with Chaim. Or we could talk to Efraim about you doing it formally under me, for the fall. Because I think if we can prove that there are actually people who would do it if Chaim weren't around that'll help get him out.

Hmmmm. Tentative yes, depending on how soon "soon" is--see above re: possibly skipping volunteering this spring.
