Back from colorado in one piece... almost.

So the trip overall was a lot of fun...
Too many boys around though.

The drive there and back was doable, but laborious. Way too long of a drive. Saved money, even though we got a speeding ticket in OK. Made sure to avoid that horrible state on the way back. Got lost and took some long "detours" at some points too.

Arrived Saturday night and went skiing sunday.
There was groups of all different levels. Some people were taking classes, and others dove right into it. I was with one of the more experienced skiiers. Alex took me on a blue black first... ugh! i fell like 4 times. Second time around i didn't fall at all. guess i just needed to get my ski legs back. He took me down a black too. I tumbled down the mogles, but did ok on the slopes.
Hot tub. Mmm. Oh the boys made dinner too. Over boiled spagetti and meatballs.

Second day we met up with the noobs and went down a few greens and easy blues with them. They fell a bunch. haha. Geoff fell once cuz he was busy singing "i'm on a boat" in his head,.... so he says.
Second time up, Alex, mark, Spak and I took a black way down... there was a really steep part that Alex and Spak took. Mark chickened out and hiked back up to the top, and i scooted on my butt towards a less steep area. The rest of the way down was reaally fun! I was scared, but i'm glad i didn't totally pussy out (cough! mark). Finally starting to get a hang of the bus system.
more hot tub. I think Gil got over his fear of germs cuz he went in too. I tried and oxygen bar. That sucked. Nothing happened. We went drinking that night too at a micro brewery. It was awesome cuz i got free drinks (ladies night). The beer wasn't bad either.

Third day, less than half of the group went out. it was snowing and was cold. I finally decided to trade my skis in for a snowboard and was going to spend the rest of the trip on greens. At the bus stop i realized i had forgotten to put my contacts in. What a bummer. Couldn't do a thing with my glasses. They fogged up as soon as i put goggles on. And i had to ski with goggles cuz of the snow. After a few runs, i went home to put contacts in. While i was there i got lunch (over boiled mac and cheese) In their defense, they didn't know how the higher altitude would affect boiling pasta. anyway, I took a cat nap. Shoulda stopped there, but determined to get my money's worth and to master the snowboard, i decided to go back a bit until the lifts closed.
Get on the bus and head back...

From here on is a recollection of other people's stories. But at some point i wiped out and managed to get my ass back to base. I called eugene, no pick up. I called gil and told him i was hurt. I called him again and told him i was hurt. I called him again and told him i was hurt. I called him again... you get the idea. Alex hurdled down the mountain and reached me first. Apparently i didn't know where i was, but i was singing the songs the base was playing. The rest of the gang showed up and took me to the clinic where the doc asked me questions.

Birthday? check.
State? No clue.
Year? 2008
President? Bush (really disappointed that i didn't get that one right)
Nurse gave me three words to remember and kept coming back to ask if i remembered them.

So i'm sitting in the clinic. My head hurts, memory is foggy, i have oxygen tubes in my nose, michelle is sitting beside me, and the doc is asking me what his name is.

I slowly start to remember more and more of the day and the nurse's three words. I think i started getting my location right too.

I remember hearing guy in the bed across from me (i can't see cuz i have a curtain around my bed) complaining of a FOOSH. Doctor says "does that hurt?" and i'm like... "he's palpating his scaphoid bone in the anatomical snuff box!" I must be much better. But even right now as i'm sitting here typing this, i have about a 3-4 hour gap in my memory.

Dr. Riberdy said no more skiing for me. In fact getting a second concussion would be really bad.
Payed the $100 co pay, david drove me to drop off my snowboard and i got home. And played some beer pong (didn't drink though. wish i could).

Thursday i slept foreevverrr. It was nice. Still suffering consequences of my head trauma. Everyone else was off skiing. Caroline called and i got my ass up to get a refund for that day of skiing. Went shopping a bit too. Girls did some hottubbing before the boys showed up. I think there was like.. 10 of us in there. Went out to celebrate caroline's b-day dinner at Eric's. three of the boys shared a 24' pizza... three. they were dying. i guess it didn't help that everyone had challenged them to eat the whole thing. And being boys surrounded by boys they couldn't back down.

Went home and packed and i passed out. still not feeling super good.

Abridged version of my Spring break. I learned a lot about people during break. I think everyone learned a lot about me too... hope that's a good thing.
I wish Pupe still had the golf stuff up. i wanted some of the knee high socks. i only managed to get one pair before i left for break. sad.

Well looks like i get to play with Irene's parrot for a bit with deran. toodles.

skiing, snowboarding, spring 09, spring break
