I realize that i haven't posted in a while...
And i really have a lot to post about.
And that would be the med school interviews.
Uhm
UTMB has a group of really sincerely nice people there. Everyone's really friendly, and noone seems too stressed out. Everyone there really likes the curriculum, which is systems based. There's no core classes, since you learn about pharm and biochem and all that as you go through the different systems.
Also, classes are only 8-12, and youre left to study by yourself the rest of the day. That sounds nice in theory, but you all know me. If i'm up at 8 in the morning, what do i do the second class is over? Well certainly not study! Oh, we also had a social the night before, where the guy who ran it left early and announced that we could now buy 'beverages'. I thought that was clever. Oh you can also start working in a real clinic your first year. WOW
UT houston seems more like my kinda school. By the time i got to the night before social everyone was already drinking. I dunno, maybe it's just me and how i'm so used to being in new orleans where it's not a real event without alcohol around.
Anywho, the curriculum and the classes seemed a bit more mainstream. There were core classes, but they claimed that they did a good job of lining the systems up. Anatomy is only one semester, and you only go every other day. which is good.
They have problem based learning like UTMB. There's alot of really good hospitals around. But no real clinic in first year. I think you only get to work with real people at the end of second year.
Dang, i'm tired.
