Oh, hi!

Not exactly. I'm trying to find a present for somebody.

"What kind of person?"

He's a big jerk who hates everything, especially stuff I picked out, and has no taste at all.

He likes to cook so maybe I thought I'd get him some cooking stuff, but I can't figure out what I could get where he wouldn't think I was making fun of him.

"Hrm... May I ask who it is? Maybe I can help."

England. Know him?

"The country I know of. Maybe if you got him something James Bond related? I don't think there is any way to take that as making fun of?"

Oh...that's a good idea! But I'd have to trade for it at the Post Office, and then it'd seem like I put a lot of effort in.

"Why not just ask one of the tailors to make a James Bond suit? Or get him a coupon for one free James Bond outfit at a tailor if you don't know his sizes?"

But James Bond suits are basically just regular tuxes with gadgets and stuff. How'll he know it's James Bond and not a regular tux?

Anyway, that also would seem like I put in a lot of effort.

"Is putting in effort bad? I thought America and England were allies, or, at least in my time."

[She ponders for a bit]

"I'm trying to remember what went on at Nergal's British office, I've spoken to them a few times."

Oh, yeah, we're allies...and I guess we still will be in the future! I mean, that makes total sense to me.

I guess it's just sort of more...like, I want him to think I put effort in, but not too much effort. That'd just be embarrassing, 'cause he'd think I like him or something! Which, I want him to think I like him, but not too much.

Make sense?

"How about this for an idea. Reserve a part of the park for an America vs. England soccer game. You get to compete in a friendly way, but its a sport that he likes more. There is the effort of getting a team together, but still you can beat him, but, its a game he likes so he'll probably enjoy it."

No, that seems like way too much effort! I'm already planning a party for him and if I do something like that, he'll think I really care if he wants to be friends with me or not!

"Then vinegar. Lots of vinegar. Most of what they called food in the London office was smothered in that stuff."

[She looks a little ill at that thought though]

Yeah, I know...

Okay, that's kind of a good idea!
