charlotte left yesterday, and since we didnt have a car anymore, me and laura went with and dad got off the train early at haarlem (which is between amsterdam and leiden- which is a town over from wassenaar with a train station). so we found where charlotte needed to be and we wandered around amsterdam for the day. intestingly enough, we found out that if you come out of the train station and basically go strait, and down a street, you hit the red light district. of course we didnt realize this until we were at least a block into it, but you would have thought that all the coffee shops would have clued us in. btw- rule of thumb in holland: koffee shops (or maybe its koffie) serve coffee. coffee shops dont. anyways, we turned around and lunched, then hopped on the canal bus (which is rather touristy), got off at the anne frank house, and despite the fact that you can practically see it to your left if you just look that way, we went right, decided we were lost, came back, then saw signs. but of course, the sign we followed led us to another 2 signs that pointed us back where we came from the other sign, but across the street we saw another sign pointing a third direction. silly confused signs. the line turned out to be too long, and we were too lazy, so we just rode the boat to some random stop, got out and ate really good mexican (which you dont find too much of here), and road the train back. all in all we hardly did anything considering we spent alot of time there- no museums, just a boat and a couple shops.

that was my little adventure. then today i had the first day of orientation for school- yick. then tomorrow is placement testing (whoo), and thurs is another fun-filled day and meetings. the school seems pretty nice though- some of it is silly though. like, over the summer they basically colorized the whole school- the floors are different colors and bla bla bla. you also need your ID card to get into the gates, building, or your locker. there are also only around 90 peoples in the senior class... and i thought stagnes was small. im scrred of school though- it feels like i was only taking finals a week ago. i said in the beginning of the summer that i thought it was going to be the shortest summer of my life, and im pretty damn sure i was right. i have to wait to see what my classes will be- im sort of excited about some of it, but it all depends. it sounds like the work load should be lighter than stagnes, and im hopefully going to be taking 2 APs, pre-cal even though i havent had any trig, and no science.
