You've reached the seventh layer of hell, how may I direct your call?

I was living in a dream world all day yesterday.  I cleaned/rearranged my house while on Percoset, junked old stuff (2001 tax forms?  Really, Laurie?  You barely filed that year!), and had myself firmly convinced that I would be able to return to work today.  I laugh, how I laugh now.

Essentially what has been going on is this- last week I had a temp crown put in.  The doctor told me that there was a lot of decay in the place where he had to drill, and it was likely that I would need a root canal.  JOY.  Ever since he put my temp crown on, attempts to eat anything cold, or really, food-like, have been thwarted by a tooth that decides that it wants to create pain like unto a spike being rammed into the center of my gums.  What is worse is that on Monday I started to get a sore throat, and by the end of Tuesday night, it had developed into a full-fledged cold.  Joy.  The cold made it so that spikey pain that I was experiencing BECAME A CONSTANT.  Oof.

As such, I have renamed my cold/tooth combination "William the Bloody", as in "William the Bloody Awful".

There are some bennies though.  Between naps, I am getting my house reorganized.  I now have a reading area in my bedroom and switched my art closet with my clothes closet because it was really, really, becoming necessary.  I have started "Dollhouse" and when Eliza Dushku is not Eliza Dushkuing it up, it is actually not bad.  Tahmoh Pennikett has my favorite body on television.  Oy, thanks for the dreams, son.  (Plus- he's Native!)  I may actually finish "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" this way.  Also- if we go by an average, as to my goal, I should have made from 15-18 rugs this month- so far I made three.  I will have time to do that now, too.  So- good stuff.

I just hate that I am having to miss this much work this close to the conference.  I am sort of working from home, but there is only so much I can do via e-mail and with a system that is incompatible with our off-site network.  (I like Macs because they are shiny, but when I get a laptop, it is going to have to be a PC.)

The worst part is that it really hurts to drink cold water, but that is just exactly what I need right now, so I am grinning, bearing it, and praying that I do not make my brain explode in the process.

All right- time to finish my living room and kitchen and then work on some art.  Would that I were actually able to rest, but my body says, "Yeah right!" so there you are.
