I‘m a reactor. I react and expand on whatever comes at me.
If hubby is nice, I am nice. If he is snarky, I reply with snark.
With friends, I like to listen first and expand on their idea.
With art or writing, I usually get ideas or source art and expand on these.
Not all the time, but most of the time, it seems. I cannot change that. That's who I am.

A man calls out to me as I walked to work, "Hey beautiful!"
I look up and smile and bow like the typical Japanese, surprised by the fluent English from a random guy on the sidewalk, just as I was thinking of posting a friend request at the Hachioji Expat Facebook group.
"You from America?” He asks as he turns to go down the way I came from.
"No, Canada." I turn my head to reply.
"Me too. Calgary!"
I don't have time to catch the meaning and reply but smile and wave as we both go on our own way.
