What did you think of this ep? I’d love to hear it in the following poll/comments!
Poll SPN 14-16 Don't Go in the Woods

Ug… I didn’t enjoy the Jack scenes much. They were and will be forever embarrassing and also were worrying on first watch. There was one scene I couldn’t watch straight through on first watch (or the second) because I knew what was coming and it was damn uncomfortable :( I enjoyed all the Sam&Dean hunt scenes though, and one in particular.

There were a couple of themes covered which was really interesting. First the point about why they don’t tell anyone about monsters. I think it was covered much better than they usually do it. Then the point about telling family the truth and not lying. Dean’s dumb mistake for not telling Jack the truth right away *facepalm* That was damn uncomfortable.

I’m going to go through and find the good scenes again, and actually watch that scene I couldn’t watch -

SAM: The internet is not just naked people. You do know that.
DEAN: Not my internet.

Didn't quite get why Dean asked if Sam was ok to go even though he said he needed time. Needing time doesn't mean he needs time dealing with feelings in the bunker. He even goes on to say that Cas left because he felt he needed to get out. Weird.

DEAN: Good.
Sam and Dean reaction to it being outlawed in Haiti to make a zombie.

Sam and Dean in suits researching was hot as usual, especially with those loosened ties XD

Jack takes the teens up on their invitation -

Cute gay couple XD Also, as much as I didn’t mind the teens making fun of Dean because he was old (too much), I felt sorry for Jack because he is pretty knowledgeable about monsters (except he doesn’t know there is such a thing as zombies? But... Haiti?  I don't get it.  Someone enlighten me.) but is so ignorant about everything else. He needs to be in a more normal teenage environment or at least read some teen books and magazines. He has lost so much from having grown up too fast and from living with the “old” guys who are not really taking care of that aspect of him very much… they haven’t had much time I guess. Is that a common thing among homeschooled kids though, in the USA? Like meeting them do you feel they are a bit off? I’m sure there are some parents who really do a good job - so many of my cousins home-schooled and they had groups and activities with other kids and stuff on one hand but on the other, seemed to be rather over protective in terms of other worldly things.

Ahhh…. Poor Jack. :’( He stabs the girl by mistake... It is obvious that he hasn’t lost too much of his soul if he can feel bad about what he did and feel compassion as well as feel hurt by being shunned by his friend. His mistake from trying to show off is very teenage and human to me too.

I LOVED Dean doing that rifle trick on the Sheriff!

The monster was strange. So he is sort of a wendigo aye? Except cursed to boot. Why would a tribe put such a curse on a person? If the guy was going to suffer on his own, maybe, but they basically cursed anyone who went into the woods! So many victims they created for no reason. And to do something like that out of revenge…. Maybe just shows what knowledge of monsters can do to people? Part of the theme?

SHERIFF: Why don’t you tell people, give them, us a chance to fight back.
DEAN: Because telling people about this stuff, they don’t always believe. Your people tried to warn you about this whistling freak nobody bought it, not even you.
SHERIFF: So, just record them, put it on Youtube
DEAN: Knowing about monsters and fighting them are two different things.
SHERIFF: So you make that choice for everybody? Imagine telling them… imagine the lives you would save.

SAM: No, it doesn’t work like that. People die. Even when they know how to fight, people still die.
(Sam thinking of all the hunters that died :’(()
We’ve also seen that if everyone knew about monsters, there would be people like the Ghost Facers who go out looking for danger and teenagers like those kids with Jack, thinking of it as just a bunch of fun. Makes it totally look like hiding it from the general public is probably the best thing.

I LOVED that whole fight scene - Dean getting the son out of the way so he doesn't get more hurt while the Sheriff keeps the monster at bay, then Sam coming in with the gun to lead the monster away from the Sheriff and Dean bringing the monster out so the Sheriff could kill it.

Sam tells the Sheriff he should tell his son the truth.

Sam and Dean in the car -
DEAN: Jack said he was fine.
SAM: Yeah, and he’s a kid. And when we were kids, how many times did we tell dad we were fine just to make him happy.

DEAN: We were trying to be nice because we care about you, but because we care about you, you deserve the truth.
JACK: I understand. I won’t use my powers without your permission. I promise.
I think Jack actually did understand why he shouldn’t use his powers after what happened, and maybe that did need to happen in order for him to understand... but still didn’t get that family need to be honest to each other :P How he is going to learn that lesson with the Winchesters...

I also thought it was hilarious Dean was using the parental “we” even though it was only he that lied :P

I might grow to like this ep more. At this point, I think I'm leaving it as a "good."
