What did you think of this ep?
Poll 13-23 Let the Good Times RollOK, I officially forgive the writers for all that I felt last ep. HEEEEEEEE!!!!! That was a GREAT Finale! OMG… DEAN says yes to MICHAEL!!! OMG. OMG. DID ANYONE SEE THIS COMING? WHY DIDN’T I??! And Lucifer is finally dead, the proper way, BRILLIANTLY! after Jack finds out what he really is, and so yes, I’m glad Sam didn’t kill him last ep and I guess if they were going to get Michael to come to their world this ep, it had to be Lucifer so Sam did have to do what he did … and it definitely made a better story in the end. Don’t worry if you don’t get my logic - just enjoy the different perspective if you can LOL After Lucifer’s little speeches this ep, I think I sort of get it - the psychotic angel he is - the combination of wanting to be all-powerful, loved/worshipped, and the sick love of violence. I just love a good villain you can feel just a tad sorry for while knowing they cannot be saved and his death was BRILLIANT. Did I say that already? LOL
I love the title too - tying the epside together pretty well - first as the thoughts of Sam and Dean, then at the end, Michael's... and mine :D So looking forward to next season!
Let me go through the ep again.
We start with Sam giving the humans from the AU a lesson on our world history with Donald Trump becoming President of the USA.
Then Sam and Dean going on a werewolf hunt
DEAN: That is why I'm a Chloe man. (repeated by werewolf)
which was a bit out of place but was I guess to show that with Jack on their side, killing monsters was a piece of cake and the dream of ridding their world of monsters was not such a far dream after all. (Which is of course not good at all so, we have now rid Jack of his power and they are back where they started.)
SAM: Are you talking about retiring? You?
DEAN: If I knew the world was safe, hell yeah. And you know why? Because we've freakin' earned it man.
SAM: I'll drink to that.
DEAN: Yeah. (to himself) Hell Yeah.
Jack is having his own dreams. Bad ones, in which he is reliving his mistakes. Dean comes in and I LOVE his talk with Jack. Finally, good father Dean!
DEAN: Just havin' a bad dream.
JACK: sorry.
DEAN: It's ok, you don't have to appologize. I have them too all the time.
JACK: You do?
DEAN: Sure.
JACK: What do you...What do you see?
DEAN: Well, it depends. Mostly people I couldn't save.
JACK: Me too. Over there in the other world, I said I'd protect those people but I saw so many of them die. I tried to save them. I tried. I wasn't strong enough.
DEAN: Jack, it's not about being strong. I mean, look, I don't know what you saw over there, I don't know what you went through, I know I was bad, but I also know you came out the other side, because you are strong. But even when you're strong, things are going to happen. We're going to make mistakes. Nobody is perfect, right? But we can get better. Everyday, we can get better. So whatever you're dealing with, whatever comes at us, we'll figure out how to deal with it together. You're family kid, and we look after our own.
(This talking about things happening and mistakes... forshadowing of what is to come?)
Mary and Bobby are walking along discussing how Bobby likes the rain, Ketch is out doing Ketch things (WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS????) the two redheads have gone off on a road trip, and all the people settling in to the new world. Obviously, these people are a tight knit group and haven’t been in a universe without constant battle and war so they are not used to the non-monster monsters in this world. They are very nieve in that sense aren’t they?
I’m happy and also not happy that there have been no consequences from the band moving over to this universe, because there really should be. What was all that with Death warning Dean about mixing universes and going back and forth being a bad thing? True, we see Michael moving into their world, which brings a whole bunch of bad, and all because Lucifer was left there with Mary to begin with, but will we see some consequences of these 25 people moving into their world as well? We will maybe see something later.
Bobby seems to be as good and awesome as our old Bobby so far, which is a relief. I hope he continues to be. He mentions that without archangels they can’t really go back to their world anymore and he doesn’t really want to - truth be told - because it’s nice in this peaceful world. It is not going to be peaceful for long, unfortunately.
Mary and Bobby come across the body of one of them, they think a human of this world may have killed her. I like, as I mentioned earlier, that there is this whole humans can be monsters too issue, although there should be plenty of human monsters in apocalypse world as well because people will be people in any universe.
They ask her friend why she had gone out and her friend tells them of a boy that Maggie had a crush on. They decide to question the boy.
But Jack is so sure this guy killed her that he goes to kill the poor guy without confirmation.
I love how Dean just shoots him to get his attention LOL
JACK: You shot me!
DEAN: To get your attention. You're acting like a psycho.
SAM: Jack, listen to me. He didn't kill Maggie. Look at him.
JACK: Sorry.
The boys are explaining that they are FBI and this is a training exercise with rubber bullets (LOL) when Michael comes for a visit.
Love Dean’s quick thinking, getting holy oil from the impala to trap Michael.
(Why is Cas holding his ears I wonder...? And Jack, a nephellum? Why would the 'angel radio' bother them?
CAS: That's not possible.
SAM: Tell him that.
It's so possible LOL
They rush back to the bunker.
Meanwhile, poor Jack's gone off in his personal pain of continuing to hurt innocent people and meets Lucifer there. Lucifer is really doing a great job convincing Jack that they should just go off to other worlds to start anew. I got a bit upset with Sam for seemingly lying to Jack and telling him Lucifer was dead - just because he was lying to himself too. He should have known better than to think that it would be that easy. And as I said, still not happy with him for leaving Lucifer with Michael. Who leaves an archangel who wants to conquer worlds with a source of archangel grace? Really. But that lead to this storyline so… I forgive you writers.
I really think Lucifer is sincere here in his twisted way. He sure got me almost convinced that if they just went off and never came back, that might be good. But Michael, of course! How were the boys ever going to deal with Michael without Jack’s help?! They can’t.
LUCIFER: Even though the three amegos - Sam, Dean and the other one - won't admit it, You need me. You do. Cause we're blood and we're not human no matter how much we pretend to be. It's cause humans are limited and fragil and I admit it they bring out the worst in me because no matter how I try to do right by them something always goes wrong.
Lucifer knows exactly what is bothering Jack and hits it on the nail. He also bribes Jack with promises of a Star Wars type life.
LUCIFER: This is our opportunity to escape our past and our sins and start again.
Jack is convinced, or maybe wants to test Lucifer first. He wants Lucifer to do something for him before they leave. He and Lucifer go back to the bunker to bring Maggie back to life.
MARY: Call Sam.
LUCIFER: Yeah Jack, about this resurrection stuff, it's not always a great idea because you know people come back different.
JACK: Well Sam didn't.
LUCIFER: Well Sam's always been ... sort of different. Some would say... special?
JACK: You said you'd do anything.
Fine. Fine.
MARY: Has he done something to you?
LUCIFER: I heard that.
Lucifer is VERY reluctant and his reasons are valid! In retrospect, of course it is because he knows she will remember that he killed her. (awesome!) but I love that he touched on Sam’s past and I was reminded how the demons tried to convince Dean that Sam was different after he came back and how Dean said how he felt a hole inside, when he came back in Faith and after IMTOD.
Sam, Dean and Cas get back to the bunker and find out Maggie is alive and Jack and Lucifer are gone. Sam also hears from Maggie that it was Lucifer that killed her.
Bobby: You're going to put an APB out on the devil?
MARY: Sam, even if we find Lucifer, how are we going to stop him?
Just as they are about to go looking for Lucifer, Michael comes.
(cool gun action that of course does not do any good - and Sam and Dean telling Bobby and mom to go down to the basement)
DEAN: How did you
MICHAEL: Get here? Easy. I made a deal. Now this world is mine. I can save it. Purge it of sin.
DEAN:Oh yeah, cause that really worked on your planet.
MICHAEL: I'm not perfect. Yes, I made some mistakes, but second time's the charm. And you, Dean Winchester, will be the first life that I take in this world, the first soul I save. Some would consider that an honor.
DEAN: Well as Shakespear once said, eat me, dickbag.
Does this conversation remind you of the one between Dean and Jack? I wonder if Michael was listening in.
SAM: JACK! I don't know where you are and I don't even know if you can hear this prayer, but we need you. We need you.
Dean almost gets killed and Sam prays to JACK <3<3 and Jack HEARS him and comes back! Good thing Michael wants to enjoy watching the soul leave the body, otherwise Jack may not have been in time.
JACK: You hurt my friends. You hurt my family!
DEAN: He's going to nuke our world, Jack, just like he did his.
Then Lucifer’s deal with Michael all comes out. Good for Dean for figuring it out - that Lucifer just wanted Jack (but mostly his power as we find out later). Then Sam tells Jack how Lucifer actually killed Maggie himself and the game is up. Michael is on the floor bleeding - I guess Jack has just disabled the meatsuit?
JACK: Tell me. Tell me the truth!
LUCIFER: She saw me and she screamed so I crushed her scull and it was warm and wet and I liked it.
JACK: You're not my father. You're a monster.
LUCIFER: Come on man. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!
And Jack gets Lucifer to tell him the truth… my god he’s strong… but then Lucifer tells him all he really needs is Jack’s power and slashes Jack’s neck OMG…
LUCIFER: OK, I tried with you. I reall tried with you.
JACK: Everything you told me was a lie.
LUCIFER: Because I told you what you wanted to hear, man.
So what I killed the girl, big deal. She's a human. She doesn't matter.
LUcifer: That's your problem. You're too much like your mother.
LUCIFER: Oh buddy. we could have been something you and me. We could have remade the universe. Would have been great. We could have been better gods than Dad, and I really wanted that pal. I wanted that, but now, if I can't have that with you, then I don't need you. I just need your power.
And everyone is shouting NOOOooooo! As he drains him… and then disappears along with Sam who threw himself at Jack to try to protect him.
DEAN: What just happened?
MICHAEL: The devil won. That's what happened.
Why Luci took Jack is interesting to think about… maybe just to torture now that he has all the power? He has to strangle and play with Sam first though (just as Michael did Dean).
LUCIFER: Family blows, and I'm going to prove it to you.
And then Dean…
MICHAEL: He'll kill the boy, your brother... hell, he could end the whole universe if you put his mind to it. Believe me, I'd love to tear him apart, but not in this banged up meatsuit. This is the end of everything.
DEAN: No what if... what if you had your sword.
Dean goes and asks Michael to use him… Just… Yeah, wow. All the memories… So hot and pretty and heartbreaking. And it was stupid of me to think that Michael would keep to his word - but I think Dean took that chance knowing it was a possibility because - Sam! And Jack! :’( And Cas is like, Dean, don’t go…..
DEAN: I am your sword. Your perfect vessel.
(remembering...)
GABRIEL: You were born to this boys.
DEAN: With me you'd be stronger than you've ever been.
MICHAEL: I know what you are.
DEAN: If we work together, can we beat Lucifer?
MICHAEL: We'd have a chance.
CAS: Dean. You can't do this.
DEAN: Lucifer has Sam, he has Jack. Cas, I don't have a choice.
And Dean makes a deal - he has the wheel. Michael's the engine. (Gah...)
Lucifer says one of you dies so Sam picks up the knife and gives it to Jack.
SAM: You can stop him Jack, get your power back.
Jack is trying to kill himself, because he’d rather do that then kill Sam… and Lucifer is loving the conflict!
JACK: I love you. I love all of you.
SAM: Jack, don't!
When Dean-Michael appears
SAM: Dean!
DEAN: Hiya Sammy
LUCIFER: You let my brother in.
DEAN: Well it turns out we have something in common. We both want to gut your ass.
LUCIFER: (beating Dean up) Well, you tried, Dean. I'll give you that, buddy. You're just not powerful enough. I am power. And I don't need a blade to end your power. Bye Dean.
(Like with Sam in Season 5 - beating Dean up :()
SAM: DEAN!!
LOVED Sam throwing Dean the knife <3<3<3<3 *sobs*
He looks peaceful.
And then a moment of happiness…
SAM: Holy crap! You did it.
DEAN: No, we did it. We did it.
Then Michael takes over and he is so damn hot.
SAM: Michael.
MICHAEL: Thanks for the suit.
Poor Cas and Sam are completely devastated, and Jack is like, what happened?!
And I love Michael gazing at the new universe he plans to take over. The costume looked interesting -- I guess we should take it as Michael’s taste in clothes ? Or more meaning than that... we'll see!
Does that whole scene remind you of the Darkness?
Looking forward to next season!! Wohoo!!!
