Poll 13-20 Unfinished Business
Another AWESOME ep!! Seriously I think this has been the best season since Season 10 for me. Again so much going on, and very good scene switches so we didn’t feel like we weren’t getting enough boys (for me at least) and the Mary/Jack storyline was so intertwined with the Sam/Dean/Gabriel one that it was meaningful and good. And finally we have Gabriel on the redemption bandwagon as well. FABULOUS.
So, first scene was absolutely too cool. Gabriel having a sword fight (on his side anyway) with a demigod and the cool CG on the guy’s face. Beautiful fight scene like a dance. So Gabriel. I loved the Mexican style western and dance music during all these scenes!!!
Second scene of Sam and Dean in the motel, Dean’s impatience and frustration and Sam trying to be reasonable. Dean kicking the bed and the MAGIC FINGERS??? Going off. OMG.
DEAN: Bonus.
The boys were just beautiful.
GABRIEL: Hey fellows. Looking for me?
Gabriel comes in for some grace and when they tell him they don’t have any, and that they need his help, he tries to leave. Then the demigods track him down
DEAN: Who the hell are these guys?
GABRIEL: Demigods.
and Sam is about to choke to death when Gabriel gets one through the heart.
GABRIEL: Hi handsome. Ready to die?
DEAN: You okay?
GABRIEL: Yeah, yeah, go after them in a sec, I just...in a minute.
DEAN: Well, you’re not going anywhere.
They cuff him up and tell him they will let him go if he just tells them what this is all about and he tells them about his little revenge. LOVE the story scenes, Dean all interested in the porn stars and Sam not LOL
DEAN: What did they want with you?
GABRIEL: I killed their brother.
SAM: Why?
DEAN: I thought this story had pornstars?
GABRIEL: Ah good catch. My bad. ...I had it made, all the booze I could take, all the entertainment I could handle.
SAM: OK. Can we just skip to the end?
DEAN: So you want revenge.

SAM: But since you’re low on grace, you had to do it the old fashioned way with wood.
GABRIEL: Don’t let anybody ever tell you you’re just a pretty face.
Love Dean's reaction to that :D Dean has so many good expressions this ep!
Sam and Dean both sort of make fun of Gabriel for focusing on revenge when he could be doing more important stuff like saving the world, and we have Gabriel reminding the boys how much he had suffered under Asmodeus. And this reminds me of Rowena and how she felt about Lucifer - also Sam of course, as Sam and Dean have their little talk.
GABRIEL: What I went through, you don’t forgive. Everyone who had a hand in it will die. Get me?
SAM: Yeah. We do.
Dean has no interest in the revenge or helping Gabriel but Sam is compassionate. He wants to help… and maybe get something in return :)
SAM: This has nothing to do with me.
DEAN: If you had a shot on Lucifer, you wouldn’t take it?
SAM: Of course I would. But, this is about Gabriel. He needs our help.
SAM: Gabriel, if you agree to help us, we agree to help you.
DEAN: This is stupid.
(Gabriel upset bla bla bla :D)
SAM: We’re on board right, Dean?
DEAN:... Sure.
So can I just note - as I noted last ep that this situation was similar to Season 8 Dean wanting to protect Sam in Trial and Error - that this ep is also similar to the next ep that I just reviewed - Man’s Best Friend with Benefits, where Dean is reluctant to help his friend because he is more worried about Sam.
MARY: The people here… you can’t help them if you’re dead. And I can’t lose another boy.
JACK: You won’t. I’ll come back. For all of you. I promise.
Then Kevin comes in. Basically exactly the same as Adam in Season 8 being blackmailed by Zach if I remember correctly. Love Mary going well, I’ve been to heaven. Kevin kills himself and takes all the others except Mary and Jack with him. Jack gets super depressed because he had thought he could be a super star and ooops, he’s just human. Too bad Kevin had to die here too.
JACK: If I can’t protect them, what’s the point?
Back to the western music and Gabriel’s revenge :D
Dean goes off to try to off Loki on his own to protect his brother. Seems a bit silly but he is in full on protective mode.
GABRIEL: Big bros right? Always think they know best.
DEAN: Loki?
LOKI: So you are Dean Winchester.
Dean’s little talk with fake Loki was very interesting as it shows how much Dean and Sam moved Gabriel so that he decided to help them and go back on his agreement with Loki at the time of the Apocalypse, and of course the conversation between of real Loki and Gabriel, because this is where Loki tells Gabriel how selfish he has been and Gabriel wakes up and realizes he has to redeem himself somehow.
LOKI:You think I deserve to die for your spinelessness? That my sons deserve to die?!
LOKI: Of course. You need someone to swoop in and save your pitiful ass. ...You live for pleasure, you stand for nothing. And in the end, that is exactly what you’ll die for.
GABRIEL: You first.
SAM: Hey, how you feeling now that…
GABRIEL: I’ve got my sweet sweet vengeance down?...Swell, Sam. I’m a whole new guy.
SAM: Hm. That’s what I thought.
(A new guy - I guess he’s not lying in that sense.)
Then OH MY HEART… the talk between Dean and Sam at the end.
SAM: After everything, you are treating me like I deserve to be at the kids table or something.
DEAN: Sam I’m not going to apologize for protecting you.
SAM: So that’s what you think you’re doing here.
DEAN: You remember what happened last time we had front row tickets to the Lucifer Michael show? Well I do. You died, and went to hell. But see this time, the apocalypse isn’t looking for us, we’re actually looking for it. I don’t care about what happens to me. I never really have. But I do care about what happens to my brother.
SAM: Dean, we’re going to that place, and we’re going to save Jack and Mom together. And if something happens we’ll deal with it, together. … And if we die, we’ll do that together too.
Dean sounds kind of like his dad, the way he has this double standard between ‘just hunting’ and ‘dealing with the big bad’ - you know, how John let Sam and Dean go on hunts by themselves and they came close to dying many times but John still refused their help with YED because he wanted to protect them. It is also a bit old and I understand these feelings are coming up again because… Lucifer and Michael… but as Sam implied, Dean, Sam can’t live without you, just as you can’t live without him so when you die you die together. *cries rivers*
And Dean's expressions there - because there are so many in that one scene I had to gif it - first thoughtful, then a 'you're right' then... How am I going to protect this fool, maybe? :') (It reminds me of Logan/Alec in Dark Angel whenever Max says she's going to do something that will put her in danger and they can't stop her)
