Yes, I think his talk with the priest and seeing his faith in action really helped Dean. I loved this episode, I liked the way it was shot like an old forties movie, and all the double-crossing, devious criminals were great! I was so pleased St Peter's skull was returned to Malta and the brothers found the Most Holy Man.
I loved the episode: so many brother moments both big and small. :D The noir-ish thing was fun and the priest gave the boys a lot to think about.
I don't think that stealing itself was the problem when they made the deal with Greenstreet, but they were stealing something for someone else instead of just stealing the thing they need for their spell or whatever. Also, the plot made them do it. ;)
