Wow. Serious MacBook drama. After experiencing random, intermittent shutdowns on my original computer, I logged onto some message boards and Apple support sites to try and find out what was up. Apparantly, many people have been having the same problem. People have been getting logic boards replaced and entirely new systems because of it, and Apple has yet to figure out the source of the problem. I was on a site that said 12% of white 2.0 GHz MacBooks have experienced this problem. On top of that, people have had squishy trackpads, discolored cases, messed up screens, overheating, and mooing noises coming from the computer. Well I called Apple Care, and they were extremely helpful. The guy gave me phone numbers for local Apple retailers to call to take my computer. I called a few stores without any luck but then called the Apple store in Eastview Mall. They were great there, and I took my computer in last night and instead of trying to repair it, they classified it as DOA and took it as a return and replaced it with a new one. They kept it overnight to transfer my hard drive to the new computer, and I am on it right now, stealing wireless, as usual. Here's to hoping that there's no more problems. It's really bad that the chance of getting a messed up computer is so high, but I guess that happens with new technology. I still love this computer. And if you ever get a chance, go to the Apple store, cause it's really fun!
