So... what's up with Papa John?
So, we all know that John was possessed by THE DEMON. And even though everyone's dropped their thoughts that John's a demon, just how long has he been possessed?
I just watched the end cabin sequence again, and when Sam asks Possessed!John why he's doing all this, Possessed!John turns to Dean and he's like, "You know, I never told you this... but Sam was gonna ask Jess to marry him."
Why does Possessed!John say I never told you this? When else did he have another chance to tell Dean or anyone else? Is that Possessed!John or Papa John speaking? Cuz we know that Papa John drove by Stanford every now and then, but that still doesn't mean he'd have any way of knowing about Sam's intentions of marrying Jess unless he was stalking Sam, but John's clearly been engrossed in his hunt to find THE DEMON. So... maybe THE DEMON has been possessing John Winchester since the fire, maybe even on and off-- not possessing him every so often to go set fire to another unsuspecting home of a 6-month-old child.
Cuz in my head, unless it's a script error (I sorta doubt it because they've been so great with the script), the only way Possessed!John or Papa John (whoever was speaking that part/providing the knowledge for that part) knew about the rings is if THE DEMON has been possessing John for a while.
ETA: Captions, apparently, said "I", so there's one vote toward Possessed!John saying "I never told you this" (as opposed to he).
