Friday night was one of the best (and most random) evenings ever. I rallied the troops, aka moni_poni, meagain716, and lost_on_a_hill and we flew down from Minneapolis to Northfield to see Al Franken speak at St. Olaf--all on one hour's notice and with no tickets/no idea how were were gonna get in but we were gonna make it happen one way or another. We ended up getting in no problem, and I'm so glad we took the chance and went. Al was there with a host of MN Democrats: Amy Klobuchar (who is running for Senate, and she shook every person's hand as they entered the venue), Patty Wetterling (running for Congress), and a whole bunch of other local representatives. Being in the Pause with all those people, and all that energy from the students made me really miss Paul Wellstone. Everyone was on the same page. Tired of lies and ready to make change. It was refreshing.

Back to Mr. Franken: Franken's speech was about and hour long, and he spoke mainly about the war in Iraq, and the mistakes that were made, as well as the hipocracy demonstrated by the Republican party. Normally, you'd expect some blatant Republican bashing...but this time, I didn't see it. Franken simply acknowledged the mistakes made during with Iraq, which at this point have already been admitted by Bush and his team.

Plus, you know, there were jokes :)

Seeing him in person was SOO FREAKING COOL. I don't know how else to sum it up.

awesomeness, school, al franken, politics
