A Very Happy Birthday

Jan 18, 2008 11:53

So, I feel like I've been a mad poster for the past few days, but before I settle my restless, unmotivated self in to get started on this work project, a quick birthday recap...

My day started off on a great note, thanks to all of the e-cards, e-mails and LJ shout-outs I got from my super LJ friends. I'm like an 8 yr. old with my birthday...if people forget, I get pouty, and when people remember I just glow. I'm typically a shameless promoter of my big day...as I've mentioned before, my 30th birthday (two years away) is already half planned. I'm throwing a prom...the Snow Ball, specifically, to which I have already nominated and voted myself in for Prom Queen. Yes, I am that crazy. ;) So just to emphasize how much I appreciate all of the kind words on my birthday.

I also receeved two fun packages from my two best buds in North Carolina. First, from jw22 these adorable note cards! They have a little cartoon face for each member of the Super family, including baby Noelle and my pooches...as as far as cartoon faces go, they are right on! SO cute!!

Then, about mid-afternoon, I answered the doorbell to be surprised by these babies from my friend Stephanie...

YUMMO!!!!!!!!!

I was insistent that Andy not get me anything for my birthday this year, that the nursery was my present, so we went to Home Depot after work and picked out the shade for Noelle's room. It's exactly what I wanted - pictured below from the Levolor website, except that we opted for the cordless version and a room darkening fabric back since her window gets direct afternoon sunlight that is very bright, and makes for a very warm room in the summer. I have been searching for something with both of these features that would fit our odd-sized window and am so happy to have this ordered!

We then met about 15 of our neighbors for Happy Hour at Smokey Bones (BBQ Chicken Nachos....Mmmmmmmmmm). We hung out at the bar eating snacks and having drinks and then celebrated with a tasty cookie cake.

It was a nice low-key way to spend my last birthday before the little miss arrives. The best part was that my Dad surprised me by showing up half-way through the evening with my annual birthday flowers. He has been getting me flowers for my birthday since I was born, and I was actually fairly disappointed during the day when I didn't get a delivery thinking he had forgotten. So getting a hand-delivery definitely made up for it! This year, he also included a silly little bundle of dyed daisies for Noelle too...but told Andy it was a one-time deal and he would have to pick-up the tradition for Noelle in the future, which will be really sweet, since it was always such a highlight of my day to get my flowers from Dad.

We closed the bar down at Smokey Bones, and then Dad, Andy and I went back to our house where I opened a few small presents. Andy got me a "Sun & Sand" Yankee Candle and I love it! I'm typically not a big fan of candles with scents like "Mountain Air" or "Spring Breeze" etc because they always smell like chemicals, but this "Sun & Sand" candle actually really does kind of smell like you are at the beach. No where near as good as the real thing...definitely a tad on the chemically side, but it smells like salt and suntan lotion the way your skin does after you've been at the beach all day. Check it out if you're a beach girl.

So....one more birthday to file away with my other happy memories!!!
