So I haven't really been online too much lately and in my absence there seems to have been some serious shit going down over here in LJ land.

Um, which fandom? Over at HP some journals were suspended for child porn? Which from what I gather, they weren't child porn-y? I don't really know, I stayed out of it. And in the SPN fandom there was an email that may or may not have been from Kripke's people, and then all hell broke loose. No, seriously!
Oh, I'm no help! In my opinion, carry on. The porn is still here, we are all good ;)

ckll got an email from somebody claiming to work for Kripke. Some people cheered. Other people were skeptical. It got super ugly, in the personal attack sort of way. A lot of people, my friends, have been hurt. I have tried to remain quiet in it all, but it has been difficult.

I have no freaking clue how an email, real or not, turned into such a huge mess. I am sure it wouldn’t take much to track this stuff down, but I’m not going to link ya because not only wouldn’t I know where to start, but by this point must of it has been screened, flocked, or outright deleted. If ya wanna know more, I can get more detaily, but it is just some nasty business going on at the moment.

WTF is wrong with this fandom? I mean, I thought the HP fandom was wanky, but the SPN fandom is always arguing about something and then it explodes into wank about the fact that there's wank in the first place and then it goes to F_W and they wank about us wanking and its just too much wank to handle.

Personally, I think the email is more likely to be fake, but I also don't think it's that big of a deal.

Porn is still ok, child porn is not. The isuse is LJ didn't do a great job of defining child porn and then showed us again that they are not on speaking terms with the concept of good PR moves.

T'was the final straw for at least two people on my f'list an they're going; however, don't go to GJ!
It's been shown to ahve banned people for porn, not just child porn! Insane Journal seems to be the preferred fleeing place.

Myself, I'm staying. LJ was asshoish with all this but IMHO fandom was worse so if I leave Lj for being immature opressive morons . . I'd kinda have to leave fandom too . . jsut to be fair =P

Ugh...you would think that after the whole strikethrough disaster they might have tried to handle this a little better.

Unfortunately, I think it's the last straw for me too...in two ways.

I'm obviously frustrated with 6A's retarded way of "handling" these situations...but I also want to go where the rest of fandom is going. It's not even that I read chan that often, but I'd like the option to do it. Especially because linking to any kind of banned content, even on another server, isn't allowed.

Thanks for the GJ tip! I'm in the process of making a GJ, IJ, and JF...only to try to keep up with fandom. :\ I'm going to keep my LJ too, but I like to know what's going on and I feel like this is the best way to handle it.

Ugh...I really wish LJ could just get their shit together because I really like it here! :(

I sort of remember the DA thing, although I was never a member so I never really got involved, but that is pretty ridiculous. :\

I'm kinda surprised the linking is surprising everyone. I've never heard of a site where you could link to banned content, you know -_-

That is a very good point. I don't nececarily think they should allow linking to banned content, it just really hit home the point that I can't get all my fandom news on LJ anymore and I had gotten very used to LJ being my main fandom-place.

I guess everyone isn't leaving and I'm probably being a little paranoid, but I'm going to scope things out at the other journals and see how it goes.

I never spoke to Ponderosa personally, but I've always loved her art, and that makes me very sad. I'm not familiar with the other artist's work, I don't think...but still.

I guess the best thing to do is just wait a little while and see what happens.
