My first repo... and where the hell were the cops?

Soon after I get to work today, the phone rings and my coworker, let's call him.. Josh, answers the phone. I wasn't paying much attention but I heard him telling the person things like call the police, the tv is stolen, blah blah blah. I continue on with my training, Josh talks to this woman a few more times, and eventually I find out the whole story. The costumer was renting a tv, wanted the agreement transferred to her ex, the day that was supposed to happen the ex comes into the store saying the tv was stolen. This was all a while ago, there was a police report and everything. Now the tv has been found in the ex's apartment. Score.

So Josh calls another coworker from another store, let's call him... Frank, Josh calls Frank to come over and pick me up so we can go get this tv. Meanwhile, several calls have been made to the local police to go to the apartment, because the woman is afraid of what might happen if the ex gets back. Also it would be nice if the police were there while we took the tv, but the cops decided to just not show up. Now there is a bunch of legal stuff about us entering a guys apartment while he isn't home, but WHO CARES HE HAD OUR TV! We show up, the woman lets us into the apartment, and we take the tv, while the ex isn't even there. AWESOME! The police aren't even going to do anything about the guy filing a false police report, or having stolen property. I love this job already.

A little later I went on my second repo, and did this one alone. I guess I have trained enough with my 4.5 days on the job. But this customer called the store and asked us to come get the stuff because they didn't want to pay for it anymore so it was no big deal. The biggest deal was how dirty the apartment was, I think the dust behind the computer was 3 inches thick. First thing I did when I got back to the store was wash my hands. Also, I'm pretty sure the guy there was either on something, or fiending for something. I'm pretty sure just before I left he was sitting on the couch with his arms crossed, rocking slightly, while watching cartoons. Awesome.
