(no subject)
It's been a while since I've written...things have been pretty insane. Carina's wedding was lovely- she looked so pretty, and so excited, and the reception hall was incredible. Then spent the night at TJ and Megan's- I've forgotten how much I love that kid. He really is my big brother....not afraid the tell me when I'm being stupid, not afraid to beat the crap out of me. Worked the rest of the week, always awesome. Then spur of the moment ended up going to Rochester this weekend to visit my cousin Andrew, since apparently he's going to basic training this Thursday. He told me last fall he wasn't leaving until February, but hey, it's ok. At least I got to see him before he left. It was pretty emotional, not going to lie.
My mom said something weird to me today. We were talking about Andrew and Mike, and how they'll both be in the Army, Andrew for 7 years, and Mike for 4. Given the current state of affairs in Iraq, they will most likely be deployed over there at some point in time. So we were talking about this, and my mom goes "You know, you and Andrew have the most likely chance of dying soon."
I was like "what the crap."
This is how she explained it: Obviously Andrew has a pretty decent chance, but I was like "Mom, why would you say I have a good chance of dying soon?" She said that because I travel all over the place, drive ridiculous amounts, fly to foreign countries....
It was a mood killer to say the least.
And thought provoking....
