Leftovers Reinvented--Pot Roast Pasta

Dec 19, 2007 22:30

First Post!!

I had a bunch of leftovers in the fridge that no one was eating in the house. So, based on something I'd heard about a casserole dish at work....

1 4 oz. steak
3 inches of deer roast (about 6 or 8 oz.)
5 baby carrots
1/4 an onion, chopped
2-4 cups of brown gravy
a little butter, bullion, garlic, salt and pepper to taste
2-3 cups of pasta (I used wide egg noodles)

The steak and the deer roast had already been cooked over the past couple of weeks, and were really just waiting for a meal to come along!

To Cook:
-Put the pasta on.
-Slice the steak and the roast into thin strips. It should already be cooked so as not to waste time.
-In a skillet, sautee your onions in a little butter, garlic and bullion. I used beef for a matching flavor, but you can change the bullion to match the leftover meat you've got.
-Slice your baby carrots into thin discs and toss them in with the onions.
-Add your meat. Once that's been mixed together, add in your gravy until the mix is wet enough for your liking.
-Serve over pasta. Feeds two. Enjoy!

I kinda made this up on the fly with what I had. I'd run out of gravy mix, so I added together some things in a gravy mix, including some curry powder. I prefer that taste with my food, so my dinner came out somewhat Indian flavored.

Please feel free to make some changes! Dinner is all about experimentation.
