Day 16, afternoon
The past few days have certainly had more downs than ups. After I
wrote a letter to Wolfram aboard the ship to Dai Shimaron, I
spoke to this world's Great Sage. I thought he had Murata's best interests at heart, and maybe he did, but...perhaps it was a mistake. I certainly didn't think it would have such dire consequences.
Murata was busy at the time, so I went to take care of Kihin.
Murata joined me, which
went well, for a while
at least. The
rest of the trip to Shimer City was peaceful. Murata and I
roomed together in spite of Gunter's objections. The
following morning things were still a little tense as we set off to
the negotiations.
Conrad is... I don't want to think about it. Yozak will protect him. He promised.
Gunter handled things
quite well, but we only walked out of there
with Greta. I suppose I should be glad we walked out of there at all - Murata was a little
over-enthusiastic in his demonstration of the box's power. And then...we
left him.
Ran away.
The journey home
started with more crying than I've done in a long time. Murata and I both
slept for most of a day. I think we needed it, though. We
watched the sunrise and
talked and then went back to our cabin for
breakfast. I think I
made a
mistake, but what's done is done. I'll remember in future, though. If there is a future. Afterwards, Murata was
so relaxed that he told me a little more about...what happened. I'm not sure if he even remembers. He drifted off, and had a
bad dream just before we
arrived.
We
slipped off pretty quickly for
a bath and dinner. Murata is
more nervous since we returned, but I suppose I can understand that. He had more dreams
this morning. We talked to
his double...apparently that was a very, very
bad idea.
So now I'm sitting in the infirmary feeling sorry for myself. Wonderful.
