[The feed opens, after a moment of the usual static, upon a turtleneck-clad teen sitting cross-legged in the center of his dorm room bed. His eyes are downcast as he begins speaking, apparently focused instead on something cupped in his hands.]
I assumed that this place would be more understanding, but perhaps I was wrong. [His eyes dart to the

No, I don't look where I step!

Then you admit to it? Why is that?
[And he pauses, eyes shifting back and forth between the cane and Terezi's face. Factors; there is a conclusion he should be deriving from them. Processing, processing...]
Oh. [He blinks, looking almost amazed and not at all ashamed by his apparent insensitivity.] You're blind. [Give the guy a gold star.]

Hehehe, that's right! And you're new! I can smell it right past your bitter limey-ness.

Yes, I'm a first year... Is it obvious? [Beat.] Wait. Smell? But how? I'm speaking to you through the communicator. [Better yet, "limey-ness"?]

It's soooo obvious! I've been here for two and a half years, I definitely would've noticed a weirdo who'd get upset over a little lemony - [ she pauses, leans forward, and gives her screen a good lick - four legs??? ] - wait! What is that thing? It can't be a spider!

He is Joltik. [At the mention of its name, the insect twitches and scurries from N's shoulder to hide in his ponytail.] He is very similar to a spider in many ways, though I suppose his species may be entirely separate. [Especially considering the part about sending off electric sparks from time to time. He's pretty sure spiders don't normally do that.]
Joltik is my friend. Is it weird to be concerned for a friend's well-being?

Nope! You know what's weird? Letting your precious friend scurry around where larger creatures wouldn't even know to look for it, then blaming them for the potential harm they might've caused! Sounds like someone isn't as concerned for his friend as he claims to be!

[He scowls.] Joltik is still wild-- He should be allowed to go where he pleases. I will not restrain him if he wishes to explore. [But he pauses, frowning uncertainly. He probably could escort Joltik wherever he went, but if he did that... He fears he would be more of an "owner" than a friend.] I only want others here to be more aware. That which they may see as a pest is a dear familiar to me.

Then naturally you should've warned them beforehand! Like I said, it's not like the goody two-shoe losers around here were aware your fuzzy familiar was walking the halls too. A good friend would've taken precautionary measures against potential disaster! Honestly, it sounds to me like you're getting all uppity for something that can be blamed on your own negligence.
