Best Wishes and Future Events

First of all, Happy Birthday to my big sis.  I miss you lots.  Second, a lot of people will be leaving for Anime Expo tommorrow so everybody have a safe journey and have a nice time.

OK, now with that out of the way, time to talk about future events.  On the Nisei Week website, the Anime Festival has been scheduled for August13-14.  If it's the same as last year, Saturday is a few fun activites and maybe a screening and Sunday will be cosplay and the parade.  The turnout was decent last year but not like the AG-Mixer from two years ago.  I'll probably be there for both days because I also want to check out all the other stuff that goes on during Nisei Week.  The Tofu Festival is also on the same weekend this year so the whole area is going to be packed will stuff to do.

Pacific Media Expo is starting to take shape.  Four bands have been announced already, but the "big" announcement hasn't been made yet.  At least, I hope not.  Two months to go until this convention so they need to make it soon.  A couple of workshops have also been planned.  Origami looks interesting.  I once got a Page-A-Day calendar that was origami and it was fun.  There's also a bonsai workshop.  I'm really looking forward to this convention and it looks like I will be very busy.  There's gonna be a lot of stuff that I want to shoot.  They're also planning a cosplay photography area.  I'm not really all that interested in those.  If it's done right, it might be okay.  If it's indoors, forget it especially if they don't provide extra lighting, risers, backdrops--you need to make it special.  I'll probably just photography cosplay outdoors like I usually do.  With my style of photography, it just looks better outdoors.  AX's cosplay photo area sounds like a big joke and any photographer who cares about getting really got shots won't use it.  It's basically just an area in the convention center that it nothing special--just a big blank space.  So what?  The AX gathering list has been finalized and it doesn't look like anybody is using it.  AX wanted to put the really big groups in it and that would be a photo disaster.  With no special lighting in that area, most people aren't equipped to shoot such big groups indoors.  Most people still have point and shoots with built in flashes and that's asking a camera to do what it isn't capable of.

The Ani-Magic website is back up.  It's time to register.

I'm looking forward to a long weekend of shopping and going to the movies.  Maybe I'll even have a beach day.

Everybody have fun tonight.  Everybody Wang Chung tonight.
