Weekend Recap

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  It's not exactly one of my favorite days.  Exactly one year ago, I was in a very serious car accident.  My beloved two-seater convertible was totalled when I got rear-ended on the 101 freeway.  I was at a dead stop and got hit by a car going at highway speed.  My back was screwed up for over a month, but I was fortunate to not have been more seriously injured or worse.  On the upside, I bought another car that I can carry a lot of stuff in.  I also had a new appreciation for life.  Problems didn't seem so bad after that.  Things could always be worse.  Okay, on to the recap.

After I finished by grocery shopping on Saturday morning, I caught a 10 AM showing of Iron Man at the Del Amo movie theater..  Unfortunately, I got there really close to showtime so I had to sit in the second row and look up at the screen for the whole time.  It was a bit uncomfortable.  Unlike the movie I saw last week, this one was really good.  There's lots of good action in this movie and I was never bored so I recommend it just because of that.  After that I had lunch in the mall and ran a few errands there.  I had to pay my cell phone bill and get a new watch battery.  I found out that I can upgrade my cell phone now and so I can finally get rid of this piece of junk Sony phone that I never really liked.  I'll probably do that before Fanime.  I just didn't have time to do it that day.  I also did some looking around.  I didn't know Vans made Iron Maiden shoes.  I love Iron Maiden but I don't think I would wear those shoes.  They also had these shoes.  I don't think I would ever wear those either, but they were interesting.

I finally got myself a new camera bag.  I've been meaning to do that because the one I was using was starting to rip in a few places and that wasn't good.  I went to Silvio's and got me a Lowepro Magnum.   People started looking at me strangely when I walked up to the register with that because that's a serious camera bag.  I needed something that can hold all of my stuff so what am I going to do?  I've also learned that when you deal with the Japanese record labels and bands, it really pays to look serious about what you're doing.  When you walk in the door to do an interview or take photos, they start judging you right away.  They can tell if you're serious or not.  I'm pretty much geared up for Fanime.  I've got 2 8GB cards and one 4GB card as well as all of the 2 and 1GB cards that I used with my old camera.  The D70 is good to have as a backup and I still bring on my assignments.

I also stopped at some of the usual places--Target and Trader Joe's.  I always need supplies and snacks.  I was feeling lazy so I went to McDonald's for dinner.  I waited about 15 mimutes for my order before finally complaining.  They lost my order somehow.  That seems to happen to me a lot for some reason.

On Sunday, I went to church in the morning and in the afternoon, I went to the gym.  For those of you who are new to my LJ, that's what I normally do, so if I say that I did my usual Sunday routine, you know what I'm talking about.  I'm not a deeply religious person, but going to church relaxes me.  I go to the gym M-F and I'll also pick one day on the weekend to go.  Usually it's Sunday.

I got a sneak peek at the J!-ENT article for the Taste of Chaos Tour.  It's somewhere on the internet and if you know how we organize out articles, you might be able to find it.  Since it's not the final version, I'm not going to tell you where it is.  I have a good feeling about this article.  I think it will be a hit.  It should be officially released soon anyways.  I have to write my J!-ENT bio, which we're going to start including with articles.  I feels like I have a homework assignment.  It's kind of cool though.

I wish I could have done more this weeked because it's was my last totally open weekend before Fanime and I feel as though I still have a lot of preparations to make.  Next Saturday, the Random Ninjas are doing a show in Long Beach.  After the show, the first pizza is on me.  Yum.  Pizza.
