As the school year closes and another will begin within a short amount of time, I've been faced with the all-too-intrusive question: so what do you want to do for the rest of your life? People automatically assume that since my major is English, that I want to be a teacher. They don't realize the broad category it it and the massive amount of ( Read more... )

Well first I am sure no matter what you will be happy in life. :)

Some people never utilize their degrees and it doesn't mean they are worthless or failing. Especially now with the economy and job world how it is...it's hard to get a job in what you want to do. I think eventually it will change and jobs will open up again. Until then I'd just finish up your B.A, take a much needed school break, work a lil' and live life and maybe what you want to do will come to you or fall in your lap.

Whatever you do, don't go into teaching if you don't want to and don't let yourself be pressured into it. I feel Jenny was pushed into teaching and she hates it. Like anytime I talk to her she does nothing but complain about it and she seems miserable so I don't know why she's doing it except that her Mom pushed it on her big time.

So yeah. I know you probably feel the pressure but I would not worry too much because so much of those worries are out of your hands or uncontrollable. :)

I guess it's less about happiness and more about having the money and resources to do the other things I want to do...I know I don't necessarily need to utilize my degree in order to do that, but with the stupid economy the way it is, I'm scared I won't find anything at all because once I'm out of school, my job goes out the window since it's strictly a student job. And I know that once that happens, if I don't find something right away, I have Pat and I have family that will help me and it's nothing to be ashamed of because I've heard of countless college grads that move back into their parent's house because they can't find a job and at least I won't have to do that ( ... )
