vacation ponderation
I have a significant birthday milestone coming up and while I don't usually do much of anything for birthdays, I want to take a vacation this time. Plus, heinleinfan and I haven't been away, together for years. We think it could be fun to do the classic tropical beach vacation since neither of us has ever tried that. I like the idea of someplace with snorkeling and wildlife watching possibilities to go with the lounging on the beach. Neither of us is interested in doing a super fancy might as well be in america type hotel stay but someplace with some warm beach and water, comfortable, safe and quirky accommodations would be nice. We want some adventure, some stories and some relaxation.
We're on a tight budget and heinleinfan doesn't have a passport yet, though we could fix that. I'm thinking that Puerto Rico could be fun, as could the Florida Keys, but I've never been to either. Anyone have suggestions for that type of trip? Where have you gone that was awesome? Other ideas are possible too, so if you've taken a really cool, affordable, vacation that you think we'd like, please sing out.
(She gets seasick so cruises/boat rides are mostly out.)
