Gems from the Twins

My twin nieces ask me about Buster quite often. I don't know if it's because it effected me emotionally, or if it's the first death they have had to deal with on this level. They have had animals die, but they never seem too attached. It could be that I'm the only one who lets them talk about it, so they choose Buster. I do not know.

We're riding in the truck when a familiar question is hurled forward from the back seat.

"Aunt Iddy!" (She always emphasizes the Iddy part.) "Where Buster at?" They are 4.5 at this point.

"He died, F"

"No, but where he *AT*"

"He died, F. Remember?"

"No, Aunt IDDY! Where Buster AT"

I wonder if it would freak her out if I said underneath the sink in the mud/dog room. Hah.

"He's in heaven with God and Jesus...."

I am not willing to argue semantics on whether or not animals go to heaven. I'd like to believe they do.

E pipes up and asks "With Adam?"

I have to shake my head and realize that this is the most recent cat that had died and NOT my cousin.

"Yes, E... Adam and Buster are in heaven."

F then yells out, "No he not! Daddy put Adam in the trash!"

*Head steering wheel* I am trying so hard not to laugh my ass off at this point.

"Well, F... The person you are goes to heaven, but your body stays here. So you go to heaven without your body."

"Where heaven at?"

ZOMG, why am I getting the third degree? Hehehe

"It's up in the clouds."

"Where you sleep in heaven?" asks E.

"You can sleep on a cloud, E..."

"Does God sleep on a cloud? and Baby Jesus?"

"They sure do, E.. they sure do..."

"And Buster and Adam get wings?"

E is definitely a detailed thinker. This one perplexed me. I'm trying to imagine dogs with wings at this point.

"Sure, I don't see why not..."

"They are angels then!"

"Yes they are, E. Doggy Angels."

There aren't many dull moments with those kids around. Hah!

twins, buster, adam, heaven, death
