I like to think that computers as a whole have made life easier. With basic computer skills, including a reasonable typing speed, programming ability, and knowledge of several different platforms, I think I'm in pretty decent shape when it comes to all things Modern ENIAC.
So why, oh why, does "Bullets and Numbering" in Microsoft Word continue to be such a completely confounding experience?
I type notes during meetings. Nicely numbered lists appear where I don't want them, but so as to avoid swearing in front of those significantly above my pay grade, I let it go. Later, when properly formatting, I can usually get documents looking just the way I want them, but then avoid editing entirely for fear of somehow upsetting the whole works yet again. If you're looking at a document of someone else, forget it entirely. I've re-written documents just to avoid this particular absurdity of technology. I wish there were an easier way.
This was way funnier in my head. I think the bullets sapped a lot of it.
