Jack is a real struggle when it comes to school. He absolutely hates it, to the point that he writes "I hate my life" on his homework. The thing is, he gets fantastic grades. He is just so bored out of his mind that he can't stand going to school and it is making him angry about life.

I've talked to his teachers, this year and last year about it, and nothing came from it. A few weeks ago he was refusing to go to school and I just had had enough that I took him directly to the school counselor in hopes she would have a solution.
She suggested a student services meeting with the vice principal. When I spoke with the vice principal she took a look at his scores from the school wide test they did last year. She said that the majority of the school, including her advanced students bombed the test, but she sees that Jack scored very high despite that and would I be interested in exploring the idea of him skipping a grade. It is a county decision, and there is a lot that goes into it, but I think that might be something that would be worthwhile for him.

He started K when he was just turning 6, so he wouldn't be too young for going into the 5th grade, and he isn't someone who is concerned with the social aspect with school. I mean, his friends he has now aren't enough to encourage him to go to school. and if we don't do anything, he is just going to drop out as soon as he can, or destroy himself with anger.

I've also submitted paperwork to have him see the counselor from the health department that visits the school. I am stuck in limbo though. Waiting for the student services meeting, that can't be scheduled until sometimes in April. Waiting to hear from the health department. I feel better though that steps are finally being taken to address this!
