The program I heard about was called T.E.A.C.H. (so original!) and its website is kind of alarmingly sketchy on details but oh man, not having debt, that sounds so amazing

Once you're in a system, many of them offer tuition remittance to some degree to help you get a Master's - the issue is getting certified first if you don't have an ed background. One program (DC only, unfortunately) that I think has a great model is the Center for Inspired Teaching (http://www.inspiredteaching.org/index.php). One of my friends who went there is in her second year, now teaching full time, but during her first year she was placed with a master teacher and they had a year-long apprenticeship which sounds fabulous compared to my experience of 3 1/2 weeks of training and then being alone in a classroom with kids!
I'm happy to answer other questions if I can help - feel free to email me if you like. :)
Congratulations on making the decision to go to grad school! I hope everything falls into place for you with all of the stuff that needs to happen.
And, oh, Fangirlia! Some of my best trips ever have been with fellow fangirls (and not just to cons) so I am totally and completely behind this place. :D

Am I one of four hundred applicants going for two hundred spots? Fifty spots? GIVE ME AN IDEA
Oh man yes. I wish that happened.
