(no subject)
Good lord, I am horrible at updating this thing! Sarah, I am sorry! I DO love livejournal and hope that she will forgive me for being away so long.
I really don't have much to say right now. It's Friday night and I've stolen Daryl's laptop so that I can transfer music to my iPod shuffle (it's a very long and complicated process due to none of our computers having a USB 3 port and the fact that Daryl refuses to download pirated music on to his school laptop). Anyway, I guess I should update you on some of the major goings-on in my life.
For those of you who don't know, my dad died on Sunday, April 15, 2007. He had been battling cancer for the last 6 years but it was still a shock for us all. I was actually the only one home when he died - my Mum was on the Island and my brothers were both overseas. As you can imagine, it was a very difficult experience for me. He died peacefully in his sleep - the coroner believes he had a heart attack that was brought on by all the stress from chemo and the other drugs he had to take. He went without pain and that is what we are all so thankful for. Each day is still hard as it's the little things that remind us of him now. None of us can believe it has been 2 months (today) that he died. It's crazy how life just keeps going on.
A few people have asked me about the whole housing situation that I wrote about in January on here. Well, Daryl and I did get approved for a mortgage and we went looking at condos(that's all we could afford) but what we saw was absolute junk so we decided to wait. It was a good decision as our photographers for our wedding just moved out of their basement suite in Fort Langley (in March) so Daryl was able to move in at the beginning of April. It's a great suite - nice and big and bright - and the rent is really reasonable too. Our landlords our fantastic as well. This way we'll be able to save money and we aren't tied down if we decide to up and move in a few years! We're really pleased with that.
The wedding plans are coming along. Tomorrow, it will be 5 weeks away and that really scares me! I just have so many little details to still hammer out. I had a wonderful shower thrown for me last Saturday by Daryl's mum and his two aunts and I can't believe how generous people were! It seems like everyone bought all the big expensive things on our registry for the shower! I have NO idea what people are going to give us now for the wedding! Oh well, I'm sure whatever it is will be awesome!
Work has been going well too. At the beginning of March, I got offered a permanent TOC term position until the end of June which I accepted with great pleasure! It basically means that I am guaranteed work every day and I get paid on salary at the rate of a first year teacher. BUT, I still have all the flexibility of being a TOC and this also means that I was able to continue to tutor after school! It really worked out well and it's been awesome so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something similar comes up in the fall and I get it again!
Anyway, that is pretty much it. I will try and write more on here because it is very soothing and nice to be able to put all my thoughts down. Who knows - maybe I'll update more that once ever 4 months! :)
