This weekend, Daryl and I headed over to the Island to visit my Grandmother and make sure she is doing ok. She's 94 (although for some reason she tells everyone that she is 96) and still lives on her own. She does very well but we like to go over every 2 weeks or so and make sure she's fine.
Anyway, we took the 3pm ferry over on Friday so we would make to my Grandmother's in time for the hockey game....I know, Daryl's life revolves around hockey.... Granny was very glad to see us and I spent the evening sorting out her dishes and then we brought her downstairs so she could watch hockey. She really seemed to enjoy it. I was absolutely exhausted since I'd taught all morning and fell asleep in front of the TV at 8 so I went to bed at like 9:30.
On Saturday, we took Granny to get her hair cut and on the way back, we decided to go to Sidney to stock up on groceries and liquor. Well, at the light, a police car pulled up behind me. I was well aware of it so after passing a very slow van, I moved over into the slow lane and went about 83 km/hr even though the speed limit was 90. The cop pulled in behind me and the next thing I knew, he had his lights on to pull me over. I was like, WHAT THE.....?????? I wasn't speeding and I knew I had valid insurance cause my mom did it last time she was over and the old one doesn't even expire until Feb 20. I was really really confused and mad and I kept saying I didn't do anything. Granny, who is sitting beside me says "Don't worry, darling. I'll tell him you weren't doing anything wrong". It was so cute. Anyway, the guy finally comes to the window, looks across at Granny and says "You must me Marjorie MacNeill." Again, I'm like "what the...? Does everyone know Granny in this town? I mean, Sidney's a small town but not THAT small". The cop goes on to explain that he was just checking because Granny is the Registered Owner of the vehicle and she doesn't have a valid license. I guess he was checking to make sure she wasn't driving. I was most relieved because I was all ready to argue with him. I admit, I do speed but I'm not dumb enough to do it while driving in front of a cop. He waved us on our way and the rest of the day went well although I was really tired again. Getting pulled over by a cop really tires you out, I guess!
Daryl and I had to come home today and he's unfortunately sick again. Here are some pics though from our walk to the ferry.
