The cute little Wordcount-o-meter has served as sufficient incentive up until now, but Rhin and I are on the final push, and I'm finding my willpower flagging. This is possibly due to carpal tunnel and back problems--writing 60,000 words or so in three weeks takes a nasty toll on the body, especially as I'm also editing for five hours during the day. Stupid making real money.
That said, I've been given a stay-at-home editing project now that the last sig of the magazine has gone down (this afternoon...first time in forever the magazine's been done on the first of the month). I have to edit our house styleguide, which is easily a thirty hour project and should keep me in money and working at home at least until next Monday. So my plan is to binge write all week and do the styleguide in the wee hours of Sunday morning. I think July 4 is a paid holiday, too. Yay!
Here's the schedule/game plan/ambition:
Tues: Extended Plot Chapter 14, Write Chapter 14, work out
Wed: Massage at 11am (thank you, Mom). Finish 14, Extended Plot 17, work out
Thurs: Write 17 (remember, 8am July 4th parade tomorrow--no 5am writing jags for you)
Friday: Finish 17, Extended Plot 18, work out
Sat: Fourth of July party. This day may be lost to cleaning, cooking, playing and drinking. But if not, begin work on Chapter 18
Sun: work out, Finish 18, Extended Plot Epilogue
Monday: Write Epilogue
Tues: Take a well-earned break. Read the novels piling up by my bed. Watch Tin Man. Revisit the memoir. Go to the gym without feeling the need to plot on the treadmill.
*cracks whip at self* I can do this. I really can finish the novel within the week. My brain and my fingers are awfully tired.
Also, I have a Facebook now. I will probably begin ignoring it within a week or so.
