His jaw hung loose, and he was staring blindly at the man walking in front of him. “So you, like, what? Travel in time? Like the guy, you know, the guy with the blue-“

They turned the corner and Leonard stopped short, looking into the alley. “NO WAY! No way!” He skipped up to the man who had brought him here, skipping ahead of him and putting a shaking hand on the blue door.

“Now, Leonard, I need you to promise me that you’ll be very careful once you go inside. Can you do that?”

“YES!” he said, a little too loud. “I mean, yes, yes, I can promise you that.”

He opened the door and let Leonard in ahead of him, with a sly smile on his face. He knew men of science, skeptical but in heart believers.

He should know.

He was one!

“OH MY GOD!” Leonard jumped up to the heart of the Tardis, and the Doctor followed him, smiling gently.

“This is so beyond anything I have ever, cool in different- and the meters! They’re all metric!”

The Doctor watched as Leonard bounced around, letting out squeak after squeak of happiness before he finally settled, standing next to the Doctor with complete awe in his eyes.

“It’s so beautiful.”

“So is the universe.” He raised an eyebrow in question.

“I wanna come, can I come, please, can I come with you? Just one planet, one time, please just one trip, I swear I’ll behave just one trip!”

“Yes, you can come.”

Leonard’s eyes widened and he started to jump up and down, but he took the Doctor in a tight hug and then started jumping up and down, laughing all the while and then he let the Doctor go, settling down and leaned against the railing.

“Cool.”

“Yes it is. Now, hold on tight and we’ll be off. I think you should be allowed to see just a glimpse of what happens in the future.”

“Really? I mean, you can do that I know, but still. This is just like the old tv-show!”

The Doctor looked at him, one eyebrow raised and the other down over his eye. “Oh-kay.” Then he pulled a few gadgets, turned a few knobs and smiled at Leonard, who was doing a small dance where he had been leaning against the railing a moment earlier. “Sorry,” he said, noticing the sideways glance he’d gotten. The Doctor laughed and the Tardis started to rattle.
