Theres been a song stuck in my head for a few days now.... it goes something like this:
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful trip,
that started from this SF port,
aboard Rob's tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man,
but to the Playa he had gone,
10 Stargazers set sail that day,
for a two hour tour,
a two hour tour.
The weather started getting rough,
and radleys cookies were tossed...
If not for the courage of the Rocketboy
Stargaze would be lost....
Stargaze would be lost.
The bus aground on Alcatraz in the middle of the Bay...
with Geoff,
the Lila too.
A Marc and his wife,
The Radley-san,
the Colin and Carol and,
here on Rocketboy's Isle!!!
I cant seem to figure out where this song and my weird dreams are coming from. Something about trans pacific phone cables
washing ashore, primitive islanders, and me with a red shirt and floppy hat on sleeping in an upper hammock.
;)
Note: We have space reservations for 10 Sgers on Saturday. Things have changed slightly tho: the Skipper (rob is Gilligan in this real life scenario) has gone to BM, and consequently the owner of the tour boat is skippering, which means we may not get on for free. We'll most likely have to kick down for a group discount. So bring a few dollars (like $10-$15) for the tour just in case.
Details:
http://www.splashtours.comWe need to meet, having parked (remember this is labor day weekend so allow generous extra time for traffic into the city, parking near fishermans wharf etc! dont be late.
Try to BE THERE in front of A Sabella's Restaurant, which is at Taylor and Jefferson at 2:15. There is parking nearby I'm told in the Pier 39 parking structure.
Other stuff to note:
It might be a bit foggy/chilly Saturday afternoon-- so bring a medium layered jacket so you dont get cold. And that will help if we have to experience Cast Away-- the BoatBus Edition for readl.
Also: its BYO! So BYO and lets enjoy a few martinis and cocktails onboard. yummy! The tour is from 3pm - 5pm. Afterwards we'll make our way out of the Nuttiness and head on down to Chez Schneiders for dinner.
Chez Schneiders:
791 Spicewood Court
San Jose CA 95120
its mapquestable
look on my.stargaze.org for their phone number if you need help getting there or directions. They have crashing space available. Email me or them for more information!
After the boat/bus ride, we'll probably either grab food in the local area.
I'm really looking forward to the evening. It will be a much needed breath of fresh air for many of us. We'll help send good vibes to those on the Playa.
We will try to watch the webcast of the Burn, barring any technical issues we encounter.
Try to dress comfortably-- many of us are gonna be in PJs or the like. We'll have decks and music of course... If you spin, bring your records/cds cause there will be open deck time.
Confirmed DJs and/or guest appearances include:
Vj/Dj Oz/Radley (reprezenting Berkeley)
Dj Colin Day (reprezenting the Penninsula)
Dj gEoff ;) (reprezenting Oak-town)
Dj Blue Tank wawawawawa (weighing in at 15 pounds)
(subtle eh)
We're aiming for one of those parties that Shulgin would be proud of. (again, subtle heh) Good music, good connections, friendly people. Little doggies that run around begging to be pet and looking up at you with those big brown eyes. We even might have a newbie or two there to meet everyone.
Sunday we'll all take it easy, and have a Sunday of Schneider/Slack-- we'll BBQ and make some guac and take turns being Mothra and Godzilla battling to the death
in the pool. Maybe go catch an afternoon or evening Movie. Monday-- in the morning there are rumors of an outing to a local climbing gym for an "intro to climbing"
day if people are interested. (email me if you are).
Also: if you are in LA and seeking a ride to /from and can wait till Saturday morning to leave...email me. Carpooling is available!
