It didn't take long for the young woman who had been attacked in the alley to be admitted to the hospital. She had lost some blood, but not enough to necessitate a transfusion. In fact, from what I had managed to overhear the doctor tell the nurses on duty, they were more concerned about the head trauma she had undergone, rather than the neckwound

"Is this guy serious?" I asked Cordelia, who was still standing nearby. Had he really just insulted me, after having known me for a grand total of two minutes? I was impressive and .. powerful, wasn't I? Cordelia seemed to be busy holding back a smile in light of my apparent insecurity, because she didn't answer me. Instead, Fred came up to play mediator.
"C'mon now, no need for subtle put-downs. Angel is very impressive and very powerful -- I mean after all he's k---- oh, right. Um, why don't we all step inside so we don't scare the neighbors with the big pointy swords and talk of vampires."
At least Fred stood up for me. It made me feel slightly better, but then again .. Fred tended to root for the underdog. She was just too nice not to say something in order to boost my ego after it had taken a blow like that one. In any case, she was right. I stepped inside again, and she closed the door behind me. Wasn't going to take my eyes off of this 'WatchKnight' person, though. Anyone I didn't know personally, who carried a sword that had the ability to burn my flesh sort of had to earn my trust before I would let down my guard near them.
Go figure.
"Who is this guy?" I asked, while motioning toward the sword-weilding individual. Obviously, I was still in the dark regarding this whole situation. I did know one thing, though -- this guy wasn't one of my favorite people right now.

"It seems that it brought him here somehow, like a beacon. It really presents some fascinating possibilities." Her voice trailed off as potential experiments began flittig through her mind.

"Let me explain. You are unlike vampires I am used to. You are a far cry from the vampire lords and generals of my time. They stood straight and tall instead of slouching...they wore expensive and terrifying garments or armor...they carried themselves with confidence...with burning passion. They were not easily insulted or act like their cat just died. Hence, my comments about you earlier were not meant as insults, merely an observation of facts."
Listening to Fred's explanation, I stood stoicly and waited for my turn to explain.
"I had been awaiting a summons...after which I was to go to the source of the summons and protect the summoner from whatever currently threatened him or her. I received such a summons from the Champion's Amulet of my bloodline...and it led me here."
Standing even straighter...if it was possible, I faced the vampire squarly.
"As for who I am, I am Micheal Pierce, the fourth reincarnation of WatchKnight Lord Atrus Davion, holy knight of Byzantium, WatchKnight, Lord of the Realm, Protector of the Key, General of the Holy Order of WatchKnights during the Demon Wars, the Demon Butcher, Slayer of Acathla, and Gatekeeper of Heaven."
Watching them, I waited for all my titles to soak in. I couldn't help but eye the door though...if I could only just leave this place...

I raise an eyebrow at Fred then look back to the Knight.
“No kiddin...”
I had half expected him to keep adding names onto this list and was caught a bit off guard by it’s ending.
“They were not easily insulted or act like their cat just died.”
I could help but find that comment funny, but somehow I managed not to full on bust out laughing. Angel was kind of touchy--and he did have that ‘my cat fluffy just got hit by a---‘...and I’m moving on. But that’s what made him Angel. If there came a day that he didn’t behave in this manner, well...that would be bad. Broody pet losing was safer than euphoria in his case.

So this guy claimed to be a renaissance man .. or, rather, the renaissance man. Sadly, I wasn't impressed. I simply glanced toward Fred and Cordelia, brows lifting in question. "What's he doing here?"

And possibly we could have a round of Twister followed by Chinese take out....that’s what I wanted to say, but didn’t. So, I just nodded.
“What she said.”
It was better that I kept my sentences short so as not to let any rude comments slip through. They do that sometimes.... Fred wanted him to meet ’everyone’, and since I had been here (which wasn’t long, granted) all the knight had in mind was getting out of there, and the sooner the better. Like he had something better to do. What, was their some Renaissance Fair going on in L.A. I wasn’t aware of? See, that’s one of the comments we wouldn’t want slipping.
Angel had brought up a good point. What WAS he still doing here exactly? (So, I added the ‘still’ for myself) And I don’t mean the ‘being summoned by the hideous jewelry’ either. He wanted to go so bad then ‘don’t let the door hit ya on the way out’ was sort of my mind frame as of this moment.
That Chinese really wouldn’t be out of the question now though...

"I only remained here because Fred would not allow me to leave until I had met her friends. As for why she would not leave...you would have to ask her."
Looking between them, I gave them each a small bow.
"Since I have done so and it is obvious that I am no longer wanted, I must return to my station and await another summons...which hopefully will not be a false alarm this time. Hopefully the other is having better luck. Farewell, it was a pleasure to meet you all."
Stepping around Angel, I made a beeline for the door. Unlocking it, I opened the door and started through the doorway.
