Fashionably late.

It didn't take long for the young woman who had been attacked in the alley to be admitted to the hospital. She had lost some blood, but not enough to necessitate a transfusion. In fact, from what I had managed to overhear the doctor tell the nurses on duty, they were more concerned about the head trauma she had undergone, rather than the neckwound ( Read more... )

Giving up on waiting, I brushed past Fred and made a beeline for the door. Grabbing the doorknob, I tried to open it but it was locked. Sighing, I unlocked it and pulled it open as I turned to face the two women.

"Farewell maidens, if you need me I shall be at the abandoned church on Browns street."

Turning back to the now open door, I saw a man standing there.

"Vampire," I growled as my sense perceived what he truly was.

My holy sword immediately whipped up into a defensive position as I took a step back.

A sword-brandishing guy, who referred to Cordelia and Fred as Maidens? This must have been the big emergency that Gunn mentioned earlier. From what I had been able to assess in the thirty seconds I had been present, though .. no one seemed to be in any immediate danger. No injuries -- at least, I couldn't smell any drawn blood .. which was good news for Mr. Medieval, here. It meant that I just might not have to hurt him, after all ( ... )

I walk over and stand beside the two as they stare each other down.

“Hey! Sir slice’n’dice, Fred’s been swell with the hospitality so the least you can do is not kill her friends.”

And this is why we take swords away from strangers. It’s all fun and games till someone loses a limb.

“This is Angel. One of the people you have been waiting oh so patiently for. So, offing him would kinda make your wait a bust. And yes, he’s a vampire...but he has a soul. It’s a--thing.”

I slowly realized getting mad at him was pointless. Fred and I hadn’t exactly filled him in on who (or what) was coming--names not withstanding. And Angel was just as clueless on what he had just stepped in on.

“Angel, this is Michael. He’s a knight--apparently--works for the Powers.”

I didn't turn to look at Cordy as she spoke, just watched with grim satisfaction as the vampire was burnt by Alturel.

"This is her vampire friend? I was expecting someone more...impressive and powerful."

Lowering Alturel, I stepped back further from the vampire.

"Greetings vampire. I am WatchKnight."
