Who: Lizzie, Warren, Katie, Tina, Gil, Kayla, Kya, Vito, Zack
Where: Sid's
When: Jan 19? Somewhere around then

Lizzie had heard about the grand reopening of Sid's, and wanted to check it out.

Warren was accompanying her, looking contemplative and carrying a notebook with designs.

Katie was also (cautiously) paying the diner a visit - woman cannot live on espressos and tacos alone.

Tina was with the Katie, looking out for anything suspicious.

The interior had been redone in muted, aged-looking colors and lots of chrome. There was a new and very fancy looking juke box by the counter, and vintage photos of various places in New Jersey and NYC on the walls.

There was a "GRAND OPENING" banner above the pass-through window to the kitchen, and Zack was wiping down the counter.

Gil whistled, impressed. He'd heard about all the excitement and decided to stop by.

Kya was looking over everything, and cheerfully directing people to tables.

"Pretty cool, ain't it?" Zack said to the small crowd beginning to form in the doorway.

Kayla was with Gil, and looking cheerful.

"It looks pretty nice," Lizzie said. "All things considered. Now let's hope it stays this way."

"You can hardly tell there were gunshots and stuff," Kayla said, looking around. "It looks all nice."

Gil waved cheerfully back to Kya and looked around for a convenient booth.

"You just want a big booth?" asked Kya "We have a really big one along that wall."

"Oh good, Kya's here..." Lizzie waved to their favorite waitress.

"That'd be nice," Kayla said, looking to Gil. "We could hang out?"

There is, of course, the Big Booth. This could seat twelve comfortably.

Warren nodded. "Nice."

Gil nodded. "Sure!"

"Well, have a seat. I'm going to get sodas and menus for all of you." Kya cheerfully headed off to do so

Lizzie settled down at the big booth, next to Warren. "So how is everyone?" she asked.

Sherry headed for the counter, and to distract Zack from working.

"Hey, gorgeous!" Zack said to Sherry. "How're you?"

"I'm good" Sherry smiled

Kya returned with the drinks and menus. "Okay... Here are the drinks. I'll keep an eye on this table because i'm sure more will join you." She headed over to Zack, and quietly told him to get to work.

Zack frowned. "Oy," Zack said.

Gil grinned. "Thanks, Kya!" He glanced around the table. "I bet you're wondering why I've called you all here today."

Kayla settled in next to Gil, and opened up her menu. "I thought you called me to have a dinner date."

"Does it involve evil plans?" Lizzie asked.

"You want to sit with them?" asked Tina, to Katie

Zack kind of got back to work, but was still paying attention to Sherry.

Katie nodded. "Alright..."

Tina headed that way. "Hi... uh, can we, uh... sit here?"

"Yes. Dinner, and then we kill Superman!" Gil grinned. "Sorry, I couldn't resist, and I don't think 'Godfather' quotes would go over well, considering..."

"No killing Superman. Or woman," Katie said sternly.

"Jimmy Hoffa isn't buried under the diner," Zack said. "I swear."

"Left my kryptonite in my other suit," said Gil. Laughing, he ducked his head. "Sorry about that. But, Supergirl was kinda hot.."

Kayla laughed.

"Nobody is going to get killed." Tina said, taking a seat "And, what color kryptonite?"

Lizzie shook her head at the silly talk, then perused her menu. "Hm... chicken of some sort maybe."

"I think I'm going to have a cheeseburger and fries," Kayla said.

Kya glanced at the crowd, then at the mega booth. She headed over with sodas for the newcomers, and a cup of cocoa for the Katie. "Ready to order? Zack, if it gets busy, your mega break is over, but go ahead and sit down for now if you want."

Zack grinned and sat down next to Sherry. "Works for me,' he said.

Gil nodded. "Yeah, I was just thinking that too, Kay, except I think I'll add mushrooms and swiss."

"Mmm," Kayla said. "Mushrooms and onions on mine."

"I think I'll have fried chicken and mashed potatoes," Lizzie said. "What're you having, War?"

"Bacon burger and fries for me," Warren said.

"Oooh..." Katie took her cocoa and sipped, looking blissful.

Kya took orders, and headed to the kitchen to put them in.

Kayla petted Gil's hair while they waited. "It's nice to be hanging out at Sid's again. I haven't been here for a while."

Gil leaned into the petting. "mmhm. It sure does look nice since they remade it, though."

"I like the new decorations." Tina said, after a moment "ANd look, a jukebox on the table."

"Neat - does it work?" Katie asked.

Gil fished a quarter out of his pocket. "Give it a try."

*pocket, too.

Tina took the quarter, and plunked it into the jukebox. "Um... these are all oldies- 'House of The Rising Sun'?"

Gil grinned. "Oh, good choice."

Katie nodded

"I love that song," Lizzie said.

"I don't think I've ever heard that one," Kayla said.

"Oh, man. I'll play it for you. My parents have all these old records. It's pretty sweet. They kinda met because of that song."

Gil smiled. "It's a really sweet story."

"I like it... I play it sometimes." She pressed button to start the song. "I hope my new band plays more music like this,"

Vito emerged from the back and had a look around. "And we have business," he said. "THat works."

"Yep." Kya smiled "I have the teens in the big booth, and Zack is on a girlfriend break, but the tables will be fine." she looked back to see if the orders had come up yet

"Girlfriend break," Vito said. "Well, if it gets busy, get him up ... looks like you have your hands full. Need a hand carrying that order?"

"Thanks! Yeah. Mega table means mega order!" Kya smiled, and grabbed part of the order

Vito gathered plates and followed the bouncing Kya.

Kayla listened to the song contemplatively. "I like it."

Gil nodded. "Me too.."

Vito helped set out food.

"Thanks," Lizzie said, collecting her chicken.

"Ok, here's your food! I'll check on all of you a bit later." Kya placed the correct orders for everyone, and if someone didn't order, she got their favorite for them. "Don't get into too much trouble now."

"Nah, we're angels." Gil grinned.

"The horns are holding the halos up, right?" Kya smiled "Just playing with you. If I'm not back around when you need something, just send Zack!" she rushed off to another table

p"She's such a nice waitress," Lizzie said.

Gil nodded. "She really is."

"Yeah. She always remembers my grapes and toast." Tina said

Stephan headed into the diner and paused in the doorway, looking around. "Whoa, this is different."

Kayla nodded, and munched her burger. "Food's still really good too."

Gil nodded, chewing happily.

Katie ate, looking happy.

Eva headed in with Stephan. "It's really nice. I love the decorations."

Stephan nodded. "And music. This is very cool. Table or counter?" he asked Eva.

"Counter." Eva said "Is this a date, or hanging out?"

"It's nice that we're hanging out." TIna said

"Yes, it's good to just relax and spend some time with friends," Lizzie agreed.

"More hanging out," Stephan said, "if that's okay."

"Yeah." TIna smiled "Hanging out with friends."

"I suppose." Eva said "I think I'm just going to order a malt."

"Malt sounds good," Stephan said, settling.

Kayla fed Gil a french fry.

Gil smiled and chewed, peering hopefully around for pickles that Kayla might not have eaten.

Zack got up reluctantly. "Okay, dudes. What'll it be?"

"And diner food," Katie added.

"Yeah." Tina smiled "This is all... nice."

Kayla fortunately wasn't a fan of the pickle, so had left hers on the side of the plate.

Tina seemed happy.

Gil grinned, leaning over to snag the abandoned pickles.

Lizzie rested her head on Warren's shoulder. "It's nice to have Sid's back."

Warren nodded. "And our favorite waitress still works here."

"I hope she doesn't decide she wants to do something else." Tina said

"Yep, so all is right with the world," Lizzie said, smiling.

"What else would she do?" Kayla asked, pondering.

"Something else? I get the feeling that making people happy is what she wants to do with her life," added Gil.

"I don't know. What if she goes back to school to study law or physics, or something?" Tina had no idea what else she would do, but she knew that people tended to change jobs

TIna remained quiet for the rest of the night/

"Well, that's a good goal anyhow," Kayla said, thinking that making others happy was nice.

Gil nodded. "Someone's gotta be the waitresses and the fry cooks, so it might as well be someone that likes doing it," Gil agreed.

"As opposed to someone who poisons the food," Warren concurred.

"Yeah- that'd put a damper on dinner," Lizzie agreed.

"Unless it was ecstasy or something," Warren added.

"Let's hope we don't have to deal with that." Gil added pepper to his fries and dabbed one in some ketchup.

"Around this town, you never know what's going to happen," Kayla said.
