Who: Becky, Nica, Ming, Michael, Dot, Juice, Kyle, Anna, Tina, Katie, Ethan
Where: Sunset
When: December 28, 1998, Monday
Ming glanced around the room, making sure everything was running smoothly. Nights at the Sunset seemed to either go really well, or really badly. Besides, she was still on the lookout for the phantom buttpincher.
Dot was taking advantage of the latest diner-closing event to be really really lazy. Doing nothing was kinda nice, she decided.
Raul was not the phantom buttpincher. He was a cook, and tonight was his night off. He was sitting at a table near the kitchen door with a textbook and a legal tablet.
Katie was working tonight, and gathering dishes.
Becky was sitting near Dot, eating.
Tina was in her normal spot.
Nica was with Becky, looking pensive.
Ethan was sitting with Becky and Dot.
Mari was behind the bar tonight, doing his bartenderly duty.
Juice had the night off too - and was slacking and hanging out with Dot and company because he could!
"It's almost 1999." Becky said
"So we gotta party like it's 1999," Juice said.
Ming walked by Raul and patted him on the shoulder. "Enjoying your night off?"
"Oh wow. So it is. December is always such a busy month," said Dot. She was still pretty tired, even though she'd slept in for the first time in weeks.
"Are you going to the party at the Bronze?" asked BEcky
"Si," Raul said, with a nod and a smile. "Thank you, Senorita Ming. Is nice quiet night here."
"A party would be fun," Ethan said.
"Um, I think so. I can't see why not." Dot nodded.
"Hopefully it'll stay that way," Ming said, glancing around the room again. She was still looking for that butt pincher.
Kyle was hanging out with Juice and company, and being mellow. Mel-low...
"Yeah, I think so- I mean, unless the Sunset has something- but I think Ming and Michael might even be closing for the night. Dunno," Juice said. "But they hadn't said that there was any sort of big deally."
"I wanna do something fun." Becky said
"Me, too," Raul said.
"Like what?" Nica asked.
"I dunno." Becky shrugged
Ming slid off towards the red table, trying to sneak up behind Michael and give him a hug.
"We could uh...." Juice scratched his head.
"Could it be a slumber party? I'd like that," offered Dot.
Raul flipped open his book and eyed Ming's retreating back, then started sketching a diagram on the legal pad.
"That'd be fun," Nica said.
"Where?" asked BEcky "Here? I can't go back to my house yet... people are still there."
"We could hang at my place," Nica said.
Michael was contemplating.
Ming snuck up behind Michael, and put her arms around him. "Surprise snuggle!"
"Ok... nobody is around much there anymore, it seems." Becky said "Or, whereever."
Michael grinned. "Hey, babe."
"Maybe Michael'll let us have a slumber party here," Juice said.
"Ooh, that'd be neat," said Dot.
"Hi- everything seems secure," Ming said, and slid down to sit in his lap instead of her usual side of the table. "Also, I love you."
"I love you too," Michael said, nuzzling.
"Maybe if the club were closed," Kyle said.
"Maybe he'll let us close early!" Juice said.
"That would be cool." Becky said
"...who wants to be brave enough to ask him?" Juice said.
Nica got up and headed over to the Michael table.
Michael was looking happy-comfy.
"There goes a brave soul," Juice said.
Ming was sitting on Michael and looking equally content.
"If she dies, I call dibs on her purse and its contents," Kyle said.
"She's a really nice friend." Becky said
"Hi," Nica said quietly to Michael. "Umm ... sorry to interrupt, but the guys and I had a question for you."
"What's up?" Ming said, giving Nica smile and wave
"Well ... we're all feeling a little rough after last night, and the guys kind of wanted to have a sleepover. I was wondering if I could ... on an impromptu basis, ask you if we could have a sleepover here. I'd be willing to pay for rooms and stuff."
"In the back, or out here?" Michael asked.
"Whatever you prefer. Though we'd probably drive of fewer customers if we were in the back," Nica admitted.
"It could be fun," Ming said. "Are we invited?"
"Oh, of course," Nica said, and smiled.
"Then, yeah, go for it in the back. I'll keep an eye on things out here," Michael said. "Just don't break anything or set it on fire."
"Sounds like a plan," Nica said. "Thank you." She gave Michael and Ming quick hugs and headed back to the group. "We have a place for a sleepover."
Michael hugged, and smiled a bit.
"Aww, if you're staying out here, I'll stay with you," Ming said. "I wouldn't have fun without you anyhow."
"Well, someone has to watch the club in case crazy people burst in and try to kill everyone," Michael said.
"Awesome," Juice said, giving Nica a high-five.
"Then I'll help you do that," Ming said, and petted his hair.
"Yay!" Dot cheered.
Nica grinned. "So, we have space in the back for it."
Becky smiled a little. "Cool."
"Woo! Let's go party," Juice said. "Hey... maybe we can convince Raul to make us some slumber party food?"
Michael nodded. "You can go back in a bit, fi you want. Maybe we can see if Anna minds coming by to keep watch."
"That'd rock," Nica said.
"Oh..that'd be nice. If you can get Anna to watch, we could both go back," Ming said.
Juice got up to head over to the cook's table. "Hey, Raul, my man... what's shaking?"
Anna was nearby, and reading.
Michael got to his feet, and headed for Anna's table.
Raul looked up from the book. "Yoos ... not much, just studying. How are you?"
"Good! About to have a slumber party and --ooh, what are you studying?" Juice asked, getting distracted from his original objective.
Anna looked up. "Hey..."
"Math," Raul said, slowly closing the cover. "It is ... eh ... difficult, but very fascinating."
"Oh man - you're good at math? You have to help me when I get back to school because I totally blow at it," Juice said. "Oh... and um, I don't suppose I could convince you to make us some totally rocking munchies for the slumber party we're having?"
"Hey, Anna ... the guys are holding a slumber party in the back - did you want to go?" Michael asked.
"I could tutor, si. We talk about it sometime. What kind of munchies?" Raul asked.
"No thanks." Anna said "Thanks for inviting me, though. Are you going? Need me to keep an eye on things?"
"Uh... what's good for a slumber party? Wings, fries... or maybe something special, I don't know. Cake! Something sweet," Juice said, mouth watering at the thought of it.
"Ming kinda wants to, so, yeah, I was thinking if you didn't, maybe you could watch the place. With all the trouble lately, I'm half-expecting suicide bombers with machine guns to burst in and start trying to slaughter everyone." Michale nodded.
"Mmmm ... the savory first, then the sweet later," Raul nodded. "I make a few platters, some wings, nachos, quesadillas ... and then a cake later on. Si?"
Katie settled down at Tina's table to take a break.
"No prob." Anna said "I'm probably going to crash here tonight anyway... things are weird at the apartment. You go and have fun. Leave the psychos to me."
"How are you?" asked Tina
"Pretty good... it's not a bad night," Katie said.
"That's good." Tina said
"Oh heck yes- thank you," Juice said, giving him the thumbs up.
"We'll be in the back."
"No worries, Yoos," Raul said. He tucked his books into a duffel bag under the table and headed into the kitchen.
"Alright." Michael nodded. "Call if trouble breaks out, we'll be out with fists blazing."
Michael trotted back to where Ming was.
Anna put her books away, and headed over for the red table.
"Anna says she'll watch the place if we wanna head back," Michael said.
"I got our food taken care of," Juice said, jogging back to the group.
Ming smiled. "Let's go then... we need to have some fun."
"And I haven't had anyone try to grab anything they shouldn't, either," Katie added.
Dot was practicing her slumbering, just a little bit.
"That's really good." Tina said
"Have fun, guys." Anna said
Michael nodded. "We'll try."
Ming headed on back with the party crowd
Juice bounded for the back.
Becky followed Ethan and her friends
Dot trailed along behind, sleepily.
Katie eyed the crowd leaving. "Wonder what's going on now?"
Nica followed the bouncing Juice.
"I dunno." Tina said, looking around "...I hope everything is okay."
Dot stopped walking, and yawned.
Nica paused, then headed over to Katie and Tina. "Hey, we're having a sleepover here. You want to hang with us? We got food on the way and stuff."
Dot yawned again, then kept walking.
"Oh... I'm supposed to be working..." Katie frowned. "But I'm on break at the moment, so..."
"I'm going where Katie goes." Tina said "We could go for a few minutes, but we probably should come back out here before long."
Michael called, "Eh, it'll just force goths to get up and go to the bar to eat. They'll live. Or cry."
Tina looked to Katie to see what she was going to do. "Some of the goths are getting kind of fat and lazy..."
"Chubby goths are a fact of life," Nica said, and headed for the back.
"Where are we going to have this?" Ming said.
"Well..." Katie decided that if Michael wasn't going to fire her, why not?
Raul carried a tray to the back and set out some munchies.
Becky picked up an onion ring, and nibbled.
"Yay!" Juice said, and dug in to the platter. "Thanks, man."
Ming smiled and collected a quesedia, then leaned on Michael.
"Enjoy ... cake later," Raul said. He bobbed his head and left.
Dot yawned, then reached for an onion ring.
Katie settled down heavily and munched. "Mmm.."
"So, um... hi." Tina waved, and nibbled on her grapes. She always had grapes.
"Hi?" Katie said, giggling a bit.
Michael petted Ming.
Nica snagged a few onion rings and settled on a comfy couch. "This is nice ... "
"So how's everyone doing?" Juice said, stretching out.
"Scared that something else is going to happen, but hoping it doesn't because relaxing and hanging out is cool." Becky said
Dot yawned. "I'm doing terrific, really. I'll feel better when i can get my check, but ..everything's pretty okay!"
"I hope something does," Michael commented.
"Something good?" asked Becky
