ID help needed!

Okay, oniricwolf, here's your chance! This ought to keep you busy for awhile. :-)  If anyone else knows (or wants to take a guess at) any of these, please do!

Since there are so many of these, I'll link to them instead of putting them all in the post. (Some of them have more than one pic, too, and this way it's easier to find the others and increase the size if needed.)

Butterflies:  This is a gorgeous butterfly, quite large -- I couldn't measure it, obviously, but I'd say its wingspread was 3-4 inches. For comparison, here's a much smaller butterfly in the same patch of small asters. I think the smaller one is a Pearl Crescent, because I identified some very similar looking butterflies a couple of years ago. (While we're on the subject, take a look at this one and see if you can tell whether it's a Pearl Crescent like the others and just a slight variation, or if it's a different species altogether.)

Late summer flowers and plants: I just made a new gallery, Nature in Late Summer - August-September 2006. Almost half of the photos have question marks in the caption, and I have no idea what any of those flowers, plants and critters are!

Insects:  Is this a yellowjacket, or some other type of bee or wasp? (The following photo is the same critter.) This is a gorgeous black and orange beetle, but what is it? Then there's this strange insect, with its enormous eyes and bright red-orange abdomen. I don't think I've ever seen one before.

I think that's it. There are too many to do all at once, so any time you get one, just add a new comment for it.

Thanks to anyone who can help!
