[Earthquake] I'm back!

Looks like Dessie and I chose the right time to spend a whirlwind vacation in sunny Costa Rica, because the earthquake hit while we were away. We were gone from last Thursday to Sunday. Talk about a close call. I'm glad everyone I know is safe! ...Er, well, by that, I mean nobody I know DIED or came CLOSE to dying. ...Actually, that's wrong, too. The latter part, I mean. My friends got hurt and had their lives threatened. It really made me think... We're all pretty lucky to be alive, aren't we? I'm only 24 years old, but when I think about how easy it is to DIE, I'm amazed I haven't been killed yet!!

Well, onto happier things. People have been asking us about Costa Rica; it's a fantastic vacation spot, let me tell you! The beaches were beautiful -- but not as beautiful as the sight of Dessie riding the waves! I sort of panicked every time she got knocked off the surf board... And there were soooo many different types of birds. I'm... er... actually a little afraid of birds but I can still think they're pretty!! It's a great change of pace from seeing nothing but pigeons and crows. Even neater was the Corcovado National Park. I don't think you've truly lived until you've seen a wild tamandua with your own eyes.

The trip made me hooked on plantains, but I can't find any here that can compare to the ones I had in Costa Rica. Still, that's one more thing I know how to cook now. Boy, they sure do love coffee over there. They have coffee everything! Coffee based drinks, coffee based desserts, coffee based bath products... oh, and of course, the coffee itself is good, and by good I mean AMAZING! I had some from the Tarrazú region. It's celebrated as the best and most flavourful Costa Rica coffee and many consider it the best coffee in the world! Some people even criticize it as being too perfect... too balanced, too smooth, too clean. It's 100% natural, too -- hand grown, hand picked, no pesticides used. I'll never look at my Folgers the same way again. We brought some home, which goes without saying! I sure could go for a cup of Arabica right now. How about you, Dessie? Diego, I wanted to bring some for you but then I remembered you don't drink coffee anymore. Too bad!

This is meant to be a quick update, so I'll stop here. To everyone who got hurt: please don't get hurt anymore. Get well soon!

earthquake, i love dessie, rawn is back
