Tomorrow, we're going to get a bunch of Thompson's waterseal, and while Steve's at work Saturday, I'm going to go over all the subfloor in the downstairs apartment.
We haven't worked on the house since the furnaces were finished. I've been depressed and a lazy bum for a couple months now. Some DIY home repair will help stave off the blues.
Tax returns are coming in soon, and my two remaining CD's will be maturing on the 22nd. This will put close to three grand in my pocket, which is sorely needed right now. I've earmarked most of it and have been trying to math out everything I'd like and need.
Flooring is first on the list.
Drywall for the downstairs bedroom.
One of those bathfitter dealies for the downstairs bath, as well as faucets.
And a washer and dryer. Oh, how I would love to have a washer and dryer...used, of course, but hopefully in good shape.
I want to get a five gallon bucket of flat white paint and go over the entire downstairs. It needs paint...though I want to get a colored craft paint to mix in the white, so its not white-white. A pale blue would be alright...or even a pale beige.
Also, my laptop is dead. Dead-dead. I accidentally spilled water on it the other day...a lot of water :(
I did everything that was suggested (turn it upside down, let it sit off for a few days) and nothing has worked. This is sad.
Thankfully, Steve has his computer, but I'd like to get another laptop.
I've been scouring online for good deals, and found one site that lets you customize used laptops.
I am really covetting a Macbook Pro. Its the one little frivolous indulgence I would like to buy. If I get one used, its about the same price (cheaper depending) on getting a Dell new, so I wouldn't feel too terrible about it. I'd like to get a 15' screen, but with my pricerange, I'm probably going to go with the cheaper 13.3'. Still not bad.
Steve is going to be putting some of his tax return into the downstairs apartment, so between the two of us, I think we'll be able to afford to get the whole thing done before spring, with enough cash to put a fridge and stove down there. Not bad.
