yeah you're right, a sad story every once in a while is a nice change of pace I guess. :]

Not just that, they need to be written, (the fun ones we do for fun, anyway)

Fun ones pull together the things we'd love to imagine happening while the sad ones let us delve into that inner emotion. I like writing both but I can definitely get a better connection with the latter.
