revirginization anyone? My question to you is whether if any (reasonable) practice can be called inherently patriarchal or not? Whether it's wearing hijabs, being a direct or implied subject of pornography, or getting one's hymen sewed back up, the subject a woman can experience it as a concession to a patriarchal culture, or as something that in-and-of itself has meaning for her.
More precicely, I'd say that the cultural practice could be called patriarchal, but that any one woman's experience in enacting it has to do with with her personal sense of autonomy, and can't defacto be called sexist without finding out what it really means to her.
Haven't eaten much in the past few days, and I think my brain's a little hypoglycemic. Writing saliently and interestingly requires fuel. (Not that I achieve that all too often even on a full stomach)!
