That long fic I keep talking about

Some of ya may have heard me yammering about this fic I've been writing on and off for ages - since before I joined this comm. Actually, before I even knew this comm existed and thought there were just a handful of Whose Line slash fics out there (till I stumbled across Clay's archive, I really thought there were only a couple). Anyway, I've worked on it on and off... decide I hate it, abandon it, then pull it out again. I seriously don't know if it' s ever going to be posted. It's different from what my WL style has become. And it's not very original (it's a basic Ryan/Colin first time thing, set back in their very young days). I've been revisiting it again these past few days, since I'm still stuck with this horrible writer's block, playing with it a little for my own amusement, and hoping it might inspire me to come up with something worth posting. I'm finding I'm kind of growing fond of it again. I haven't written a lot more of it, but I think I might give it another try.

Now here's the weird thing. It's still a work in progress, and what I have are maybe 4 or 5 *almost* completed chapters, that just need some tweaking, transitional paragraphs, etc. I also have little scenes that are supposed to eventually become chapters. But they're not in order. I've just been writing little scenarios as they come to me. I have a basic storyline in mind, but I need to fill in some MAJOR gaps. Like, I have chap one (from Colin's POV) almost done, but I have NOTHING for chap two, which will be from Ryan's (alternating chapters). I have later Ryan chapters in progress, but they aren't sequential. Basically, it's a big mess :)

So... I guess the point of  this post is a request for advice? Do you guys who have written long chaptered fics write this way? Or do you do it in sequential order? What do you do when you get stuck? Any tips?

Ack! Damn writer's block!
